WED: Heading back into the Rain Band.

Welcome to my Blog, bringing you my weather observations through North East Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, North Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and into the City of York during my daily commute from Melton Mowbray, by car and train.

Wednesday 16th January 2008:

Heading back into the Rain Band.

Last night the heavy rain band arrived in Melton Mowbray around 19:00 and travelled north east through the night. By this morning despite there being a heavy cloud covering across the north east Leicestershire town there was no precipitation.

The journey north on the train saw increasing bursts of heavy rain with a particularly heavy burst through the Rossington area, just south of Doncaster.

The River Aire was spilling over its defence in the Templehirst area and the River Wharfe remains high and its flood plain full in the Ryther area. In York this morning it was damp with some light drizzle. By judging the size of the puddles in the streets there has certainly been some rain here overnight.

Tomorrow; The local radio station talks of snow, I doubt it but you never know…
