FRI: Watching Out for the White Stuff!

ECML-Route-Weather Watch

Welcome to my Blog, bringing you my weather observations through North East Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, North Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and into the City of York during my daily commute from Melton Mowbray, by car and train.

Friday 1st February 2008:

Watching Out for the White Stuff!

So today is the day for this expected chill to set in and may be some snow. The weather forecasts on TV last night were full of the warnings but contradicted each other on the detail. For a commute from Melton Mowbray to York I wonder if I'll see anything snowy today?

Setting out from Melton this morning it was very cold, but frost free. The wind certainly has a chill to it but no ice to worry about. There were clear skies throughout the drive to Grantham.

On board the train clouds began to build just north of Grantham. But the precipitation which started around the Claypole area close to the Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire border fell only has rain.

For the rest of the journey to York it was case of sunshine and patchy shower cloud.

I will wait and see what happens with the predicted snow. Any developments here in York I'll post here throughout the day and I will update this blog tomorrow with a special entry detailing the evening commute back to Melton Mowbray; will it be white?

Tomorrow; Cold Weekend with a Mild start to next week?
