MON: Northern Fog.

ECML-Route-Weather Watch

Welcome to my Blog, bringing you my weather observations through North East Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, North Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and into the City of York during my daily commute from Melton Mowbray, by car and train.

Monday 11th February 2008:

Northern Fog.

Melton Mowbray 06:30 – 0.5'c

Cold and clear in Melton Mowbray this morning, with a heavy frost on the car. The drive to Grantham along the A607 was made so much better with a spectacular dawn breaking in the East.

There was no fog during the drive to Grantham but once on the train the fog began to build around the River Trent at Newark and again through the Ranskill area north of Retford. Just north of Doncaster the fog really came down with visibility between 100 and 200 meters in places. It remained very foggy through the rest of the train ride north until passing through the Colton area (to the east of Tadcaster) where the fog suddenly cleared to leave a clear sunny, but cold morning.

Temperature at 06:30 was 0.5'C, lowest recorded overnight temperature 0.2'C.

Tomorrow; More of the same with a risk of fog.
