TUE: Painting the landscape white.

Welcome to my Blog, bringing you my weather observations through North East Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, North Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and into the City of York during my daily commute from Melton Mowbray, by car and train.

Tuesday 12th February 2008:

Painting the landscape white.

Melton Mowbray 06:30 > - 0.1'c

Cold and clear in Melton Mowbray again this morning, with a heavy frost on the car. Very similar conditions during the drive along the A607 to Grantham.

Once on board the train and travelling north the weather really showed why winter is so interesting. The village of Claypole, just south of the Nottinghamshire border, had low lying mist on the fields making it look very surreal.

By the time the train reached Retford the frost was heavy on the trees and vegetation giving it a real Christmas look. The fog came in thick around the Ranskill area and was very dense between Doncaster and York.

On arrival into York yesterday it was clear and sunny, but this morning the fog is still here and looks like it's going to take a long time to clear.

Temperature at 06:30 was - 0.1'C, lowest recorded overnight temperature -0.2'C.

Tomorrow; Same again.
