WED: Stormy Weather?

ECML-Route-Weather Watch

Welcome to my Blog, bringing you my weather observations through North East Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, North Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and into the City of York during my daily commute from Melton Mowbray, by car and train.

Wednesday 12th March 2008:

Stormy Weather?

Melton Mowbray 06:30hrs 4.8'C

Last night I had a meeting in Oakham, to the east of Melton Mowbray. On the way back home around 2300 there was a terrific storm with heavy rain, very strong winds, hail, snow and lightening to add to the mix!

This morning in Melton Mowbray it's very windy with cloudy skies and rain, some showers heavy and others light. I wouldn't say the wind is particularly strong but it is concerning the railway folk as there is an 80MPH speed restriction in place on the East Coast Main Line at present.

On arrival into York this morning the sun is out and the wind is blowing.

Temperature at 06:30 was 4.8'C, lowest recorded overnight temperature 2.9'C. Pressure at 06:30 was 976 hPa

Tomorrow: Much quieter with sunny spells.
