About This Group

A new place for those in the Northwest of England to chat about the weather and their daily lives.
  1. What's new in this group
  2. Looks like blue skies are returning,at least the suns strong enough to burn it off
  3. Rush2019 Yes its beautiful when the suns out. Hayfield is about 6 miles from me. Enjoy your muffin .
  4. A Face like Thunder Clouds were predicted to develop but this is a stratocumulus bank that has rolled in rather than developed. Also note even today, there are showers coming into eastern parts of England. Met Office has underestimated both.
  5. Got down to -1.6°C Typical that it would cloud up on what is suppose to be the sunniest of the two weekend days.
  6. Hi clouds moved in after a sunny start though it’s still much better than rain
  7. A totally sunny day and a Crewe Alex win this afternoon v Wrexham to confirm their place in their playoffs would do nicely. However, already signs of it clouding over after a gorgeous start and not holding my breath on the Alex.
  8. Had Worse I'm off up your way in a bit, I fancy a hike up Lantern Pike and muffin in Hayfield. these sunny dry days are precious.
  9. @Rush2019 great photos. The last one looks like the sun from Telly Tubbies is going to pop up.
  10. Thought I’d get up to see the sunshine before the expected cloud starts to block it out across this part of the region. it’s a lovely morning so far though with a good coating of frost on the usual prone surfaces.
  11. It certainly wakes you up outside. Lovely clear cloudless sunrise, and a layer to scrape off the car. Make the most of it, enjoy the day.
  12. Good Morning. Chilly start -0.3°C, Macc Forest -1°C. There's a slight layer of frost on the bird table. Lovely clear skies currently, 5.35am.
  13. Shap at -0.1 already, another air frost. After a frost free first half to April, second half could end up quite frosty in Cumbria. Advise anyone potting tender plants etc to wait a while longer yet.
  14. Local trudge. Salwick. More like the Norfolk Broads. Half decent when Sun broke.
  15. A nice day forecast for tomorrow, but we shall see. A Crewe win in the big game v Wrexham would make it a really nice day. My neighbour is heading to N W Scotland on Sunday whilst we're heading to the East Coast. Guess who's happier?!
  16. Scuba steve just walked in the living room as the Granada regional weather was on and wish I’d have turned the other way. Apparently Saturday looks to be the best day with plenty of sunshine but then she put in the disclaimer that the more eastern parts will keep the cloud Sunday is supposed to be a more cloudy day so whether my cloud is more cloudy than Saturdays cloud I’ll have to wait and see either way it looks like west is best and east is least so maybe I can make the short walk over the hill from East Lancashire into West Yorkshire and bask in their wall to wall sunshine
  17. Weather-history the western parts of the region look ok but Will and Ian look like they’re getting wet
  18. Oh come on! You got to be joking, look at the forecast for Sunday. Even the dry spells are wet…..
  19. Few dry hours mid morning. Been underneath or just on the edge of that stream going through the region, odd brief bright spell but had showers on and off, typical April weather. Really, really want May to shine.
  20. A light shower in the middle of the day giving 0.1 mm otherwise dry with sunny intervals
  21. Flying spits and warm sun today, Now a streamer from the NNW with heavy pulses of proper rain is here and ended outdoor work
  22. No surprise that in a period where a dry spell is measured in hours, a dry sunny morning was spoilt by an afternoon of alternating brightness and heavy showers. even the dry days have ended up being wet and after several days of northerly’s which would usually give nothing but gin clear skies this far inland, we have ended up with deluge after deluge. I’m not going down the road of who is to blame for climate change and whether it’s even man made but if this is what global warming is going to give us then I need to find my receipt and see if I have been miss sold something. anyway I just about managed to cut a length of skirting board outside between showers so it could be worse.
  23. Turned into a quite passable afternoon, dry and bright and no precipitation ... so far.
