Slightly altering the settings reveals a clearer image (auto contrast in Picasa 3)

Strange aqua coloured, iridescent cloudy thing due north! 2.45 am

In three years overlooking the same piece of sky, i have never witnessed anything like this!

Can not have been the Aurora

any thoughts?

-have been reliably informed that this is a Noctilucent Cloud( polar mesospheric clouds - the highest clouds in the Earth's atmosphere.)

Cancel the search for overgrown, flesheating ochids then....
