Castle Howard - The Obelisk
The impressive obelisk sits on a small roundabout at the main entrance, with splendid avenues to approach from all sides.
Erected in 1714, with two inscriptions added later, it commemorates the victories of the Duke of Marlborough and the architectural activities of the 3rd Earl of Carlisle.
