Moorland crossroads

There are numerous rough tracks like these over the moors and many of them are still fully legal roads for all traffic - but they receive minimal maintenance so not suitable for most modern vehicles.

Even up to the 1950s, most routes over the moors would have been like this.

Some are now tarmacked but bumpy single track roads, others are serious and busy major routes like the A169 Pickering to Whitby via Fylingdales.
