December 2010

2nd December 2010

There had been heavy snow showers most days for well over a week and snow depths were becoming concerning.

It was difficult to travel at all off road for example to access livestock.

Even some cattle were still out due to the sudden onset of the extreme weather.

The snow was of a different character to what we normally see in England.

Heavier outbreaks dropped the temperature far below freezing and if the wind picked up at all, it became a dis-orientating swirling fog; a true whiteout of fine dust-like particles.
