Bronze Age boat replica

Between April 2012 and March 2013 working in partnership with the University of Exeter, FalmouthMaritimeMuseum built this first ever full size replica of a 4000 year old Bronze Age boat.

Known as a sewn plank boat due to the construction, these are the oldest known boats in northern Europe. The thick planks of oak are stitched together using yew withies, It is thought these boats were used in coastal waters and were perhaps used for moving goods and people between the UK and the continent,
