  1. No ,unfortunately for now i think the bulk of winter being done and the patterns set in i would answer definitively no.
  2. i'm going to go out and checck th precipitation type.Im near places 300ft and a little hight .i may stroll up there.
  3. I like a temperature between 15c and 20c as this allows me to control my own warmth better by sticking bits of me out from the covers or not as the case may be.Generally though I have to put up with way above this in hot spells [which thankfully are like hens teeth these last 10 years]and way below this in cold spells [which are way more common]. It is not unusual for my bedroom to be 10c or below in the coldest parts of winter as I have no central heating.
  4. well,at least we are not imminently threatened by death eh ;that we know of anyway.
  5. yeas,I have to aree but hey,we shall seee what later brings.

    Jersey Blizzard 26

Where is this ,surely not Jersey?
  9. I was wondering what it was like up in Oldham given how bad it was at my low location -I'm moving to somewhere in Oldham so it crossed my mind.
  10. Saw for the first time where Iive a proper meteorological blizzard.I am at 40 metres a.s.l. to 60 metres in eccles the partial floodplane and home of those awfull cakes.Dry powdery snow with a near gale force wind for about 20 minutes happened ;I had to take cover as that weather was fricken BAD, BAD.I with my several layers and overcoat was not dressed for it never mind the IDIOT who I saw in shorts and T .shirt duck into a building for cover.Today I will always remember because I have wanted to see a 'none daliymail/express',ie ,actual ,blizzard at my low location. Thanks for indulging my passionate splurge and bad grammer.
  11. I have had a very memorable day in terms of the weather .At my location I had never seen a full, blown ,blizzard;not a daily mail/express whatever blizzard- a proper meteorolgical blizzard. For 20 mins the wind blew a gale almost what seemed gale force with dry ,heavy ,powdery snow ; as the snow swirled and drifted I noticed some IDIOT in shorts and t-shirt and probably shock also take shelter inside some building .I hastily did the same in the library with a few others.Man ,I waited for this day;at 43m a.s.l. to 60m a.s.l. I didn't expect to see these conditions;on Saddleworth moor maybe but not the floodplane that is eccles .I have gone on long enough but I am so glad to have witnessed the peculiarity of todays great weather, one minute spring the next a blizzard. Thanks for indulging my passionate splurge and bad grammer.
  12. Any thoughts on what tomorrows convective showers will bring,if anything ,to our region.
  13. Thank you for your responses though I am still a little in the dark,ha...I did look online for a definative answer and didn't so asked the community here.Again thanks .
  14. Does this big diurnal/nocturnal difference in temperature happen partly because of the relatively long times of both night and day .At the moment I think it's 11.18 minutes of our turn of sun light in london and 12.42 minutes of no sun.Why does the temperature drop quicker this time of year here. For example in december when the nights are way longer than the days there could be a day when there is aa 2 celcius maximum and the subsequent snowless, calm ,clear conditions of the night time end up aiding the minimum to -3 or -4c,a drop 5 or 6c.Yet now were getting form 14 to sub zero. Please indulge my ignorance and hopefully I and others can find out, thanks.
  15. There is no bad weather ,just the wrong clothes
  16. Yeah, bit here in the home of those terrible cakes.Had you had any heavy stuff?I just saw some white surface outsdie, bit on grass ,white roofs but is still wet in places.. about 5 mis ago

  18. I was in oldham that day and there was a lot of snow about,[town centre was 3 odd inches ,double the odd drift to 6. Some nice guy after asked ,what's that small of a hill withe snow on called, replied 'ooh you not going up there are you,[in an oldham accent i was fond of,so much bettter than my odd, studenty salfordian accent] ,'no I replied ,but what is it called? 'Saddleworth Moor,he tells.'I genuinely smile ,my stupidly chosen cloth shoes felt a little less bothesome as I sloshed away thimking of the wonders of Oldham.I thik th city is lovely as are the surrounding areas.Plus way better winter weather [well snow] and be able to travel higher for more snow. as don't drive moter vehicles.
