  1. This is starting to get quite trying now. Any sign of a pattern change on the horizon? A few consecutive days of sunshine with minimal cloud would be great. Doesn’t even have to be warm.
  2. Spring always provides a period or periods like this. Bitterly cold north winds and a serious lack of warmth despite the strengthening sun which is higher in the sky - not that we necessarily see much of it. Every year I get annoyed by it even though I should fully expect it.
  3. A lot of these posts about being wet and lacking sun is what we refer to as ‘normality’. You have our thoughts and prayers, wishing you a return to your own version of normality soon. Our deepest sympathies, Western Scotland.
  4. First hints of spring breaking through here in weather terms. Sun is a bit higher in the sky and has a bit of strength about it now. Still wary of some cold snaps so don’t want to put the big coat away too soon.
  5. After all that above, it’s now lashing with rain and I’m pretty sure I just heard thunder in the distance.
  6. March tends to be a tough month weather wise, a big month of nothingness. It’s neither warm nor cold, dark nor bright. It just sort of floats around not providing anything.
  7. Went past the Lecht during the week, I’m not a skier but I have to say it was all very sad to witness. Everything completely shut and not a soul around. Aviemore very quiet too. I wouldn’t mind us having mild weather if meant those guys got a pasting. As for actual weather here, as others have said, very dreary and grey. Not good for the soul.
  8. Is this a full house? 'Thunder snow' from the CARIBBEAN to hit Scotland as Met Office makes 'atmospheric river' prediction - Scottish Daily Express WWW.SCOTTISHDAILYEXPRESS.CO.UK Weather charts suggest Glasgow could be in line for snow on Thursday along with the west coast and northern areas
  9. A few random flakes blowing around here, quite interesting how the radar precipitation type changes so consistency over water.
  10. Ingunn or her straggling remnants are a bit of a nuisance here. seems like it’ll be bad in parts of Norway tonight/tomorrow, hope they take care up there.
  11. Already flooding in Inverclyde, we’ve had relentless rain here all morning which has just stopped. Wind is picking up a little now.
  12. Rain has been relentless here all morning, flooding now being reported. Seems to happen every few weeks here.
  13. Reports that a number of roofs/masonry have come off buildings in Largs, Main Street is shut.
  14. Wind wasn’t too bad here up until about half an hour ago, but gusts have suddenly ramped right up. Roaring outside could be the wind or the sea.
  15. Inverness is quite a long way from the Glasgow area. It may well have lower gusts, probably because it will be sheltered by the western highlands and the Cairngorms to an extent. Remember, Scotlands population may be smaller, but it’s 1/3 of the landmass of Great Britain, so in this context is fairly big.
  16. How come I’m seeing some people saying severe winds for England and Wales with some impact on Western Scotland, and others saying much greater impact on western Scotland? Is the track that uncertain?
  17. Congrats to you all NS, cracking news! Looking out for any more info on storm Isha tomorrow, seems a bit concerning.
  18. Treacherous black ice in Inverclyde this morning. Actually quite dangerous in places.
  19. Just had some rain here. Some of the hills in Cowal away from the Clyde have a dusting of snow from earlier.
  20. Not the first time this winter that weather warnings have been spectacularly wrong. becoming quite difficult to have faith in the system now. My work place has started putting a lot investment into weather forecasting and even it has been quite hit and miss at times too. Maybe there’s an issue with the models, or interpretation of the models perhaps? Definitely lacking the accuracy that people would expect.
  21. Also, I get quite annoyed at stupid newspaper headlines about cold weather, but netweather seem to be joining in here. ‘The Arctic cold deepens’ calm doon its about -3 or something. I’d have thought this site would’ve known better.
