  1. Could one of the weather experts let me know what the chances are of the weather front that is supposed to give heavy snow on Friday, and now Saturday of next week across East Anglia and the South East being pushed further south and missing the UK completely? Thanks in advance for your advice.
  2. Lots of shooting stars out tonight, very spectacular. Superb clear night here. West Ham lost and my husband has now got a 3 hour drive back to Lowestoft from Upton Park, he will arrive here like a very large bear with a sore head. At least there is no snow for him to worry about.
  3. Incredibly clear night here, I was just lucky enough to see a shooting star crossing the sky above the mill pond like North Sea. Not only that but West Ham are beating Arsenal it doesn't get much better than this. Presently 2.5c
  4. Thank you. It's actually a sunrise but almost the same thing. Thanks again.
  5. Temperature 3.61c and rising, and a beautiful clear blue sky. Another lovely day on the east coast.
  6. Another stunning day here in the most easterly town in the UK. Bright blue sunny skies and 0.00001mm of snow on the ground. Temp 3c. I think we will survive this extreme weather event.
  7. The sky has been dropping some of that white stuff you lot get so excited about here in "Sunny Lowestoft" for the past couple of hours. http://www.bbc.co.uk/suffolk/content/webcams/lowestoft_royal_plain_webcam.shtml
  8. I have just finished work for the day, and I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the over excited guys on here for making me laugh while I should be working. Best quotes today were, "we could be in for a new ice age", "this could dump 50 feet of snow", and my favourite just in "The gfs 12z would spell armageddon for yorkshire/linconshire/east midlands/south east." Keep up the good work boys.
  9. Yet another glorious day here in "Sunny Lowestoft". Blue skies and sunshine all the way, beautiful.
  10. This has to be one of the brightest days I can ever remember here in Sunny Lowestoft. Almost blinding sunshine, really lovely.
  11. Love to see you up here, my husband has a boat moored at Oulton Broad.
  12. I've had a quick read through some of the posts this morning, I especially liked Teits one about a "New Ice Age" on the way, also the "50 feet of snow" was a cracker. So with this in mind would you advice me to have winter tyres fitted to our delivery vans, or snow chains fitted. We have had some snow here in Lowestoft this morning and so far our drivers seem to be coping alright, but with this once in a lifetime extreme weather event on the way I'm beginning to think we might need to take drastic action.
  13. Morning from the most easterly town in the UK. Temp -2, and snowing heavily.
  14. See this is my problem, I really don't understand where you get these figures from. I read your post and then looked at the Met Office temperature forecasts for the next four days. Doing a very rough calculation on the back of an envelope I made the average daytime temperatures taking in all areas of England and Wales at about 3.8c. So could someone explain where the figure of less than 0c comes from.
  15. Thank you for a very well thought out and fascinating reply, much appreciated.
  16. The weather here isn't miserable and dull, it's beautiful. Clear blue skies with the bright sunshine shimmering off the North Sea, with those great big expansive North Suffolk skies things couldn't be better.
  17. On Tuesday and Wednesday the model watching people were telling us we were in for "The Day After Tomorrow" weather scenario. Now it looks like we are in for a few days of cold weather in January. They will be telling us next that we will be getting warmer weather in June.
  18. A simply beautiful morning here in Lowestoft the most easterly town in the UK. After quite a heavy night of celebrating something about the end of a year me and the family have just got back from a lovely walk along the beach. Temp 4c, a gentle north westerly breeze, and lovely blue skies.
  19. So what is the point of the Models? Now going to get ready for the night ahead, goodnight boys.
  20. Temperature steadily rising here in Lowestoft it's now 4.44c so I can leave my thermal underwear at home for the walk up to the pub later, that should please my old man.
  21. The first post that I have ever read on here that I'm in total agreement with.
  22. Breezy and overcast. Not cold. North Sea looks quite choppy. Happy New Year, hope you get some weather that's more interesting than mine. If not just get drunk.
  23. After reading through a few pages of the General Model Output Discussion: it seems as though we are in for weather similar to that seen in the film "The Day After Tomorrow." This particular version of "The Day After Tomorrow" will come the day after, the day after, the day after, the day after, the day after tomorrow. But of course things could change, and then "The Day After Tomorrow" could be the day after the day that they originally thought it would be. If by some chance "The Day After Tomorrow" doesn't happen on the day that it is supposed to it will then be a case of waiting a few more days.
