  1. So very glad I don't live there anymore! Poeple treat that road as national speed limit....
  2. Just seen Liam J's post in NW thread. Which way is this front heading? I can't figure it out from the radar. Hopefully if it's slowly sliding SE, the convergence zone of the two fronts should do the same?
  3. None too accurate though.... Worcester falls in the sleet portion of that radar, but it almost certainly isn't and the precip is still light. I think it's just a case of magic and/or witchcraft....
  4. Very odd the snow/rain line at the moment. Places with quite some elevation with 'sleety mixes' etc, but the rest of us further down with snow all the way. Anyone care to explain?
  5. Very light snow in Worcester at a dizzying 22m ASL. Good times! Scratch that, From very light to light in about a nanosecond
  6. Don't get too downbeat. I remember Jan 2010 especially as a time where MO warnings came up after the fact, and systems not expected to even tickle Telford managed to bring us loads of snow. Convection is impossible to accurately predict too, so don't give up all hope!
  7. But frost is something we have been seriously lacking, so a minor celebration at least? With daytime maxima around 3/4 celcius in the midlands over the weekend according to model output, I am quite happy with the current situation when you take into consideration the winter so far.
  8. Oh how I wish I hadn't paid for radar only last week.....
  9. A Netweather CD with such classics as "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas" by Ian Brown?
  10. Anything to do with the V6 radar that has magically appeared on my subscription area? Or is that old news and i missed the boat.....
  11. I'll have a punt.....first 50 members to post after 6pm get a smoking jacket, pipe, and a baseball cap that says I (heart) NW?
  12. Girlfriend's report: Moderate rain in Tolladine Road, Worcester....
  13. Yeah I thought so. Got told different earlier, but does look a little further north. Maybe 20/30 miles?
  14. Agonising isn't it. 4 hours from T0 and it's still baffling.
  15. Ah maybe hope deceiving me. Must admit, I didn't view the 12z. PPN does seem to be taking a NE track for the time being. Was this modelled? Maybe NNE? So confused!
  16. This low is a lot further North than it should be. Anyone else see that?
  17. MO changed their little symbol from cloud to snow for 1500 for Brum tomorrow. Cheshire Gap?
  18. This streetlight stuff is amazing, I had no idea it went on! Streetlights are on till dawn here.
  19. They gritted it that day too. Very different conditions I know, but it made no difference then! Would you believe it took the best part of 45 minutes to drive from the train station to Brierley Hill? Sadistically, I wish every winter was like the last two. There might be loads of disruption and chaos, but it was nice to see the Black Country streets deserted for a change! And snowy....never forget the snow...
  20. haha yes indeed! Driving up Quarry "Bonk" High street wasn't fun at all! Anyways, been watching this system since it was the mother of all storms sometime last week. I think it's been said over and over again, but this will come down to what you see out of your window. The radar shows a lot of PPN, but as the weather is pretty much a classic definition of chaos theory, no model will ever tell you exactly what will happen. Maybe the cold will undercut and we'll all be buried, maybe we won't. Just enjoy it! Eyes to the sky, and keep sharp objects locked away
  21. Hey guys. Been a while since I've posted, but was thinking of the good old days of January 2010. Anyone remember that low pressure system that moved up from the south in the middle of the day and missed us by a mere 50 or so miles? Then out of nowhere PPN developed over the top of Brum and started rotating for hours. I think Blizzards will remember this... I didn't live too far away from him and we got badly hit. Good Times!
  22. Just had quite a massive downpour in Harborne (Just west of Birmingham) but no thunder. Was very much like a curtain of rain though.
  23. can confirm that. Again, looks thundery but nothing heard yet
  24. I remember TEITS displaying a 'perfect easterly' from the charts a long time ago now, and I think I've just noticed a similar scenario pop back up on the GFS....for the same date! Has this been in the output for the last couple of weeks? http://charts.netweather.tv/gfsimages/gfs.20100225/00/174/hgt500-1000.png
