  1. Looks like more of Norfolk and Suffolk being thrown into play in the latest ARPEGE - looking like up to 10cm in those lucky spots in EA. Uppers look like staying in the right ballpark of -3/-4 throughout the main event.
  2. Afternoon all, can't help but feel us here in West Suffolk could potentially go either way in this setup - increasingly flip floping on various models and forecasts between heavy rain and heavy snow. Really hope those marginal uppers are bumped a tad further away. I am remaining hopeful to be on the right side of marginal for once. Alas, all we know for sure is we've got a interesting couple of days in store.
  3. The infamous blob is getting quite angry. Ipswich part is moving north west and growing in intensity quite quickly. Norfolk segment seems to be mostly moving WNW.
  4. Had a good 5cm or so here in Bury St Edmunds/Rougham since about 3pm. Stuck fairly sharpish, slight melt, but it has now started back up again.
  5. Latest 6z NAE starting to roll out... latest precip accumulation charts (until 6am Tuesday) for E.A for today's band are trending to upgrade a little more... I do like that 12 bang on my area... http://expert-images.weatheronline.co.uk/daten/proficharts/en/nae/2013/01/14/basis06/ukuk/rsum/13011506_1406.gif
  6. It's been snowing lightly here in West Suffolk on and off for most of the last 4/5 hours. Seems to be coming out of nowhere! Temperatures stable at 1.4c.
  7. Just started snowing lightly here in Rougham, south-east of Bury St Edmunds. Looks like it's slowly moving along the A14 as well...
  8. A good 6cm covering widely around here near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. Went above freezing for a little while earlier, but now it's dropping again - currently 0.0c bang on. Using the new METO radar projections, seems like we could get a some heavy shows from late afternoon onwards. Seeing what could potentially be arriving Sat/Sun - it's going to make the roads around here even more unpassable. Being in the middle of nowhere - there is no grit on the roads here whatsoever.
  9. Hi all, Asked this last night but didn't get anything. Do we have any idea how the 2 bands will effect West Suffolk today? To my untrained eye I see a few cm's after a few hours under the band?
  10. Hello all, Long time reader, first time poster and all of that jazz. I've been reading the forecasts and debate with much anticipation and interest with regards to the up and coming snow events here in Suffolk. I was just wondering if there are any experts out there that could help out with the confusion regarding the band of snow approaching East Anglia that is due to hit tomorrow morning. I was wondering if we could get any sort of window for arrival here in West Suffolk and the potential length it could continue for? I know we're not going to talk exact until the radar watch begins tomorrow, but from what I can see it'll be around 8 or 9am - is this correct using current projections? This is an issue for us as I'm pretty sure this could effect journeys to school and such - and with back untreated roads, moderate snow and buses - they don't normally mix. Would 5cm be a ballpark figure for this feature? Would appreciate any help I recieve.
