  1. Even though I'm in the supposedly perfect location at the heads of the valley, the precip is so light and fine,it's barely having an impact. Yes,there's a light covering but considering it's been snowing solid for two hours,it has to be regarded as a damp squid...so far anyway .
  2. Tiny flakes of snow in the air up here at the heads of the valley and the wind has changed to a cold south easterly .
  3. Definitely looks more fragmented (the low)than on yesterday's charts and a tad further north. Maybe there was a good reason the Meto never went to an amber warning after all.
  4. My location is in the firing line tomorrow according to the majority of forecasts but given the fact the heavy stuff is supposed to start at 12-1pm,I'm very suprised there's no amber warning yet considering schools, people leaving work etc. Maybe the Meto think the front will break up before it hits the cold air?
  5. Rapidly approaching a foot of snow up here.
  6. Still nothing major up here. Roads and pavements are a bit slushy but the falling snow is still too "wet" if you know what I mean
  7. Intensity is definitely picking up now and starting to stick. We just needed the temps to drop a bit . Could be interesting few hours so take care if you're out and about
  8. More wet snow than sleet now but no signs of sticking yet.
  9. It's trying hard up here but it's rather sleety at the moment.Flakes are quite big which is what you always get with a warm sector.
  10. Weather warnings are due to be issued this morning for possible disruptive snow across Wales later on today/tonight.
  11. Very "snow like" clouds up here but only cold rain at the moment . Temp 1c.
  12. You've all just read from a professional meteorologist that the meto, with all their amazing technology, are really struggling beyond 2-3 days and yet people are STILL posting charts 7,8,9 days away saying "return to westerlies now set in stone"
  13. Well that's a nice surprise. Just woke up to to 3-4cm of lying snow and still snowing quite heavy
  14. Makes perfect sense to me.Gibby thinks the odds on us staying cold next week are low, hence he wouldn't put high odds on it remaining cold. Understand?
  15. Who'd have thought we'd have an ice day this time of year but the temp hasn't got past -1 all day and the wind makes it feel absolutely bitter.
  16. Heavy snow up here. Good six inches and still falling
  17. I love the last line about schools only shutting if temps fall below -52!!! Good job they haven't got health and safety obsessed local councils over there otherwise everything would be shut in days
  18. Any light snow that does fall tomorrow will stick to the ground like a limpet. I haven't seen the fields or roads around here this dry for a long time. Just come back from a walk and it's feeling unbelievably cold in the wind.Makes you think how they cope with this in Eastern Europe year after year.
  19. My kids asked me something similar yesterday morning. The car temp read -4 yet not a touch of frost yet last week it was 0c with a thin layer of frost so how did that happen??!! I mumbled something about an easterly travels mostly over land therefore there's less moisture in the air. Cant believe I was on the right tracks!!
  20. How anyone can enjoy this bitterly cold easterly, which is essentially dry for us,compared to the glorious weather we had on Tuesday, is completely beyond me. The elderly and livestock really suffer this time of year so let's hope we can get spring here as quickly as possible. Snow is lovely at Christmas but it's pretty much a nightmare most other times.
  21. Bar the odd wet snow event we'll have in March it's all over lads. See you in November!!
  22. I think in a strange way, snow brings a community together. We think about elderly neighbours we ignore for 50 weeks of the year and the atmosphere when all the street is out sledging with kids,is something you don't get any other time of year. Having said that,we're about as mentally, physically and financially prepared for anything longer than a 2 week cold spell as Bermuda!!!
  23. Some of do actually work for a living you know!!! Only teasing, its just we need to get about and my daughter's got exams this week and this snow is stressing her out not knowing if it's on or off
