  1. Police weather warning east devon. http://www.devon-cor..._medium=twitter
  2. Rain has just passed over, now temp reading 0c, all still to play for, watch out for ice out there. Fingers crossed it stays cold for any more precipitation. Good luck everyone hope you all get snow!
  3. Thanks SM, in that case it hasn't been below zero since 6 am, so I doubt that freezing rain is falling. Lets hope it isn't. I encountered it once and it wasn't very nice, looks wet, but is all ice, roads, pavement everything.
  4. The temp has been rising but has not been below zero all day. What conditions are required for freezing rain?
  5. A little snow here today 2cm but the roads are all clear, well done the council. Ruined my day I still have to go to work. Fingers crossed now for an Irish streamer! Lots of refreshing of the radar today me thinks. I'm gutted for all of those north of us, you poor sods missed out on the last snow and now this lot, I have my fingers crossed for you. Nobody in the south west should miss out. Is the forecast realistically going to give us in Cornwall any more?
  6. Snowing here! Not lots but looks like it could be snowing for a while! Super excited!!!! Front really struggling to make inroads, lets hope it keeps the temps down here for us Cornwallians!! Time to get back to bed fingers crossed it's kept snowing till I get up at 6!
  7. Don't forget us teachers! We like going to play in the snow! Oh yea and the kids of course. khodds 5 cm! I'd sell my soul for 5 cm of snow, stop being greedy! Lots of people aren't going to get any, spare a thought for them!
  8. None of the opinions expressed in this post are mine, I just read what the smart people say and put all together! Steady as she goes people, remember winter models are all less reliable compared to the summer ones, so we will have last minute winners and losers, as always. Models tend to under power the block meaning that the low pressure bumping into it will not make as much progress at it appears, I would assume that is why this predicted front has consistently been pushed further west as we get closer to the event. It is still not reliable as to where the front will exactly end up. It could continue to move west (good for Cornwall less so for the east) or it could push further east than predicted (bad for all of us here but better for the rest of the country. Also remember that the snow predictions are even less reliable. I forget who first said it but the quote was "get the cold here, then look for the snow" well the cold is here and it looks to be staying for a while at least a week. If this weekend doesn't work out you will have to wait until Monday for the next opportunity, yes that soon! If it does go mental then brilliant, but remember the cold weather can be dangerous, keep an eye out for the more vulnerable in your local community when you are out throwing snowballs at everyone!
  9. Fantastic animation just posted on WMD by Nick JB thought I would share it with this thread. http://www.yr.no/satellitt/europa_animasjon.html It's previous satellite images animated up to current. Gives a real insight into what is going on currently. Slightly easier to understand compared to the psychedelic weather charts, that are so often difficult to read and rely upon for us knuckle draggers! I'm cheering on the easterly high pushing back, I'm sure I can convince myself it is heading back westward by the end of the animation. Still clutching at straws hoping for the snow for us in the deep south west.
  10. How do you think we feel! Lest start chanting West West West. Been a long time lurker and don't often post as don't have much to add to the conversation. Just spare a thought for us in the far Southwest still looks like we are heading for rain! Hold on to the roller coaster!
  11. Some good forecasts appearing for the region. We would like to see some further movement west please! But it will probably be rain ...... again. I'm pleased for the rest of the region though. It is about time the far west west got some of the action not just the east west of this region :winky:
  12. Typical the rest of the country talking of massive snow and everthing going sideways. Cornwall gets rain. I can remember a few years back watching tv coverage of the hottest day on record people sun bathing in London. In Cornwall, you guessed it rain. I'm spotting a pattern. Sill plan for the worst hope for the best!
  13. Yes got Thunder Snow Redruth in Cornwall about 8 flashes complete with loud thunder two power cuts after first two snowing at the time brief hail shower then back to snowing. Between 07:10 and 07:30 always wanted to see it never thought i would so far in the south west.
