  1. Looks like it's weakening now. Hopefully there's more behind it
  2. Out chasing ATM, between huntingdon and Cambridge just off A14 watching an oncoming storm. No electrical stuff witnessed yet, but warm winds picking up as it gets closer
  3. I do have to say that working in cambridge and living 10 miles from it, and only having a single 15 min infrequent storm this year, you can't stereotype all of the east. Stop whinging
  4. how long before its forecast East Anglia gets storms this evening?
  5. I can see that thing now on the rain radar. Is that a supercell? west of Nottinghamcos its circular and rotating. Bit worried about that because it reminds me of watching Stormchasers and they mention havign a hook? Heading NNE (or NNNNNE if such a thing)
  6. well im back to cloud watching on http://www.sat24.com/gb and guessing where rain and cloud buildup is happening. cant see anything N Midlands, but can see clouds rotating just east of Bristol? Don't know if anyone knows what to look for in these cloud radars
  7. im using Sat24, and guessing where rain maybe with cloud tops?!?! http://www.sat24.com/gb tonyh, i can kinda see what you mean over Coventry way looking at sat24 ok, i can see a line of convective clouds forming from pretty much lands end up through Bristol and onto Lincolnshire. the Lands End, errr, end seems to be a CZ (im learning)whereas the other end is stretching out and moving eastward.
  8. Wish I'd stayed in St Ives now. Had to endure 5 minutes of large hail and no thunder, stuck in my car, hearing it getting dented, whilst bencambs and we1330? seem to have an awesome show!
  9. I'm now stuck in the stick of Cambs, (Fen Drayton Lakes) with a flat battery (left my lights on, DUH!) with large hail. Great
  10. OK, out in the sticks in Cambs on my 3 dongle. Lots of distant rumbling but no visible flashes, and I've noticed that even though these storms are moving NE, the low level cloud is moving SW. Is this because the storms are gathering strength?
  11. aaah ok. well I'm planning on going up to Fen Drayton Lakes when the stuff round Portsouth gets just before Luton area. Maybe in about 1 hour. Can pretty much see wall to wall horizon!
  12. Really? I hear nothing. Weird We abouts are you again, I'm kinda right in the middle, and up a bit (Burstellars)
  13. All quiet on the west Cambs front for the last 15minutes. Hope that lot coming from IoW doesn't move too far east when it gets here
  14. Thanks! I would guess as the day progresses the storms will be active more SE-erly, so kent would be later?
  15. Another rumbly one approaching. Sorry to those not getting any yet but I've waited nearly 3 years to hear some thunder! 2 lots in 1 hour ain't bad!
  16. Had about 10 distant rumbles as the rain approached. Now raining but the rumbles seem to have stopped now its here Just as I type that, CRACK! Must've been only 1-2 miles away The area over north France does look interesting!
  17. Does anyone know how long this possible thundery day looks set to continue until?
  18. We have rumbles in St Ives Cambs as the cell that formed over Bedfordshire gets more intense and approaches
  19. At 17 you see where the storms form. Then at the most recent you see where they are now. Drawing a line it will hit SE and EA, unless it started on a much more northerly route, and its in the process of taking a much more easterly direction.
  20. Am I talking to myself, or just imaging things?? Am I clutching straws, but Im sure its moving more northward.... Well not moving northward, but spreading northward The circles I keep in the same place for both images, and delay of about an hour
  21. Looking at the IR on sat24.com, I'd also say that the BIG storm (cloud wise) seems to be moving in a much more northerly direction than how it looks on the rain radar. Could this merge with whats off the coast of Brest and move up to even hit E Anglia?
