  10. hi all i have seen over the last few days the forcast has nearly always suggested dry and frosty on the east coast, i deffinatly dont think it will be totally dry (agreeing with TEITS etc,) even today when you look at the radar where only slighter colder air is starting to come into the north sea, i notice specs of showers starting to show offshore, my feelings are if they are showing this early what will the convection be like in a few days or so
  11. hi all i sent this e-mail to Paul Hudson about the gfs/ecm and this is his reply Message Body GFS is the most unstable of all the main 3 models for some reason. But they are all struggling, and its an indication of how finely balanced things are that 3 very similar models can give differing solutions. From: ANDREW HARRISON Sent: 13 January 2012 11:05 To: Paul Hudson-LS Subject: GFS v UKMO/ECM and the rest hi Paul i am an avid weather watcher (BBC/met info /Netweather/ your blog) and have been watching the potential changes that are afoot and i cant believe the difference between the gfs and the other models after as little as 72 hours (still no total agreement at gfs 6z , i am a cold lover and would like us to see an "beast from the east" further down the line but the gfs is still showing the influances from the jet and polar vortex over greenland, i just wondered what your opinion was on the current models thanks Russ
  12. i know all models except the GFS are in approx agreement. but to play devils advocate can you see the GFS being anything like right or some sort of middle ground, i personally am a cold lover but just had this niggle thanks Russ
  13. the met office has just posted another update about thurs/fri with (i think) revised paths http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/news/releases/archive/2011/wintry-and-unsettled
  14. the Met office has issued a warning for snow friday upto the Humber area Issued at - 14 Dec 2011, 12:35 Valid from - 16 Dec 2011, 00:05 Valid to - 16 Dec 2011, 10:00 Outbreaks of heavy rain will turn readily to snow during the early hours of Friday. The snow is likely to accumulate over time with a risk of up to 10 cm over higher ground. At low levels sleet is more likely but even here some lying snow cannot be ruled out. The public should be aware that this could lead to travel disruption on Friday morning. ** just seen BBC weather they say northern track least likely lol**
  15. my heating clicked in on Sat night and was roasted but am sat here now due to come on at 1600 if its cold enough and i am feeling frozen lol so for the the 1st time since last winter i may just turn it up untill it comes on
  16. not sure where to put this so mods please move this in the wrong thread i have just been seeing on the various weather reports on the internet that the la nino is getting a lot stronger and i know it has a cooling effect in the pacific the question i have is what will the possible effect be to us if any this winter
  17. i was out picking Elderberry's on the Humber bank yesterday, i noticed that the blackberrys have finished and most fruit trees are just ready and quite a lot of trees are starting to turn, one sign i have not seen or heard yet are the huge flocks of geese that had already started coming in this time last year
