did anyone else catch that funnel cloud south of Lancaster around 11.45am? it was on the front edge of a rain storm that passed over north lancs between 11 and 1.30 today.i did snap a couple of long distance low contrast shots. ive reported it to torro..(uk,s tornado research org)

brief thunderstorm here in morecambe bay around 6ish this eve. approx 7 flashes of lightning. some heavyish rain, whole event lasted about 45 minutes.

at last, this area of morecambe bay can cancel its membership of the no storms club, between 4-5 am this morning we had the passing edge of a storm that had previously hit (literally) southport and blackpool. but ive never known our 1st thunder day to be so late in the year.

morecambe bay recieved its 1st storm of the year around 4-5am this morning, a few flashes of lightning, a fair few rumbles of thunder. my folks rang me from just down the coast in blackpool at 4.30am, apparently a house on the same block as them was struck by lightning. this being the bispham area of blackpool.

we still have swifts in morecambe bay, but they will be gone by the end of august, swallows will be gone by late october

once again cheeseburger has beaten me to it. but morecambe bay has a thunderstorm and heavy rain.

saw 1st swallow 8th april over lancaster, 1st house martins on 3rd of april also in same area, and on the 4th april i noted wheatears on morecambe prom.

morecambe bay had snow again this morning, but before dawn, this time more of it, there is even a small amount on the beach.

light snow shower for about half an hour here in morecambe bay from 9.45 am.

thunderstorm for morecambe bay at the moment. north and east of lancaster.

very brief thundery shower passed over morecambe bay just after 11 pm, 5 flashes of lightning, and some heavy rain.

very light snow on morecambe promanade from 11.30 till 12.15. then a few grains after, but currently a few flakes in lancaster.

looking towards the lake district from morecambe promanade earlier this evening i noted 3 or 4 flashes of lightning, but a few minutes ago over lancaster we had several more, this time with hail and thunder.
