  1. Beautiful flash of fork lightning followed by a hefty clap of thunder in Haywards Heath just now, it was precluded by what sounded like a tropical rain storm ....That might be it though.....damnit
  2. I'm right on the line between East and West Sussex, we certainly havent seen any noteworthy snow in this immediate area over this Beastly period so keeping fingers crossed for this weekend. It all seemed so likely yesterday, today not so much. I do hope my fellow Sussex peeps get to see some decent snow at this last chance saloon. I'd hate to be in the party of remembering 2018 Beast for all the snow that fell around us ? Either way, a plethora of drinks is at the ready for lamppost watching. I wish ALL of you in the SE bucket loads of snow ???
  3. I so very much enjoy your posts Tom. I hope you and you beautiful wife Collette get home safely, enjoy the snow and i look forward again to reading your posts again next winter. Xxx
  4. Thanks Steve and all for the great updates and to all for the camaraderie x
  5. Just a quickie Steve, is that us pretty much wrapped up now then? Only earlier I'm sure I saw a post from you saying the heaviest snow was coming between 3pm and 7pm? I assume it's all pushed through quicker than expected? I'm happy either way, it's Friday and I've cracked open an early beer, just wondering as the radar still looks full of life to me......I probably need to refresh the page ?
  6. Quite heavy something or other falling from skies in Haywards Heath suddenly.
  7. As much as I would love to say I'd at least seen freezing rain once in my lifetime, I'm really quite glad that we have none (as yet) in Haywards Heath. It was my main concern for today with the schools opening, not the snow, but how on earth I'd get to my daughter to get her home if the pavements turned into sheet ice. Hoping for one last blast of snow today. We've had very little in this area, really only having snow overnight Monday and falling through the day on Tuesday. Couple of little patches left in the garden but nothing to write home about. At this stage of the game I'm not even interested in snow totals or it settling. It's Friday, the cold snap is ending and I would just like to sit and watch snow falling from the sky this arvo.....with a beverage! Nothing better! Thank you to all of you for making this forum so vibrant and informative over this period, your humour along with your valuable insights has made it more memorable than it otherwise would have been. Stay safe today and here's to one last blast ???
  8. Just looking at these, surely it would take a Herculean almost impossible exit stage left for this to not hit more Easterly Southern counties now? Or am I still clutching at straws? ?
  9. Let's hope you're right Seb. Maybe it will get far too cocky and have nowhere else to go other than spill over into the South East...one can only dream. Still, very happy that the SE corner wasn't a fail this year and that many of you have been fortunate enough to enjoy oodles of snow. I won't lie, I am absolutely green with envy watching that radar and the SW. That said, they too have been snow starved so look forward to pics and fingers crossed we all see a final flurry before we wrap this up!
  10. Haywards Heath this morning! ? I'm absolutely knackered from radar watching all night...so worth it though. Hope anyone who's not seen any yet gets to see some today. Cant remember the last time I saw some decent snow so I'm so happy today!
  11. Oh and @yamkin......I have missed your exuberant ramps, I used to wait with baited breath on the whereabouts of the gritters and the news from the MetO, but have been lurking and following/enjoying your posts again recently. Good times!
  12. That's all well and good Steve, but fundamentally, it it going to snow IMBY? ??
  13. Well, it's certainly been a while since Ive posted here, I remember many late nights of lampost watching with a glass of wine and fellow members in here following suit. I think (like most coldies) the mere whiff of being on the cusp of something so incredible has brought some of the old time forum members out of the woodwork again, which is lovely to see. I must admit, i have been avidly following the mod forum (or mad thread) since the beginning of Feb (I refer back to the 'mere whiff' I mentioned above) where I've seen the most amazing charts and input from fellow NW folks. I've made a monumentous effort this year to read as much as I could comprehend and feel that I've come away with a little more knowledge this time round than I had before. Thanks to (among others) @chionomaniac @Nick F and my stalwart @Steve Murr for the amazing and easily comprehendible analysis that you give. I know it's your passion, but seeing the time you take to patiently answer questions in your own time is incredible and so very, very much appreciated. It's great to actually understand some of the what, whys and wherefores ..... even if my level of understanding is still very base. I do have a little chuckle that some things haven't changed at all.....will it snow in my garden, how many inches of snow will there actually be, I'm going to miss all the snow again (when you won't), can you tell me if it wil snow at 5pm on Tuesday as I have an appointment.....and so on, and so on. I kinda like that it's still there! Because at the end of tbe day, we can pour over the charts, laugh and cry over downgrades and upgrades.....but when it comes down to it, I feel that all the majority of us want is snow.....lots and lots of snow. To what extent....well, thats for each individual to decide, but that is the crux of it. Anyway, I've rather waffled on way more than I intended. I really only wanted to give some thanks and just as a caveat......these experts on this fantastic forum really won't be able to tell you if it will snow in your garden, they can only ever give a rough guide as to what could potentially happen. So take some time to look a few things up yourselves, it's really fascinating and you can draw your own conclusions. Personally, I've concluded that taking this week off work was a great move for snow watching, I've also concluded that it's pointless telling anyone about the impending weather as they think I have 2 heads and finally a shed full of beer/wine/soup is pretty much all I need until I dig my way out of the drifts Nice to be back, here's to a monumetal snow fest PS @TomSE12 sorry to hear about what happened, but glad to see you on the recovery road. I do believe I damn well won your trophy for snow depths. I remember what an absolute mission that whole competion became in the end - you spent so much time on it. It was great fun.....thank you for the memories. Lets all go make some more x PPS whatever happened to @Coast - such a wonderful guy
  14. We have quite heavy snow falling.... sideways, here in Haywards Heath. Quite definitely not the sleet my MetO app is insisting it is. It's been on and off light snow all morning, but this is picking up pace and starting to settle on garden furniture and grass. .... I wish I could be a little more enthusiastic about it.... Although that said, as much as I want the sun and some warmth, I'm still transfixed by it as it falls, I guess I'm not bored of snow yet!
  15. Hello everyone, just thought I'd swing by, catch up on the thread and confirm that I'm not the only snow lover who's craving some warmth and sunshine. I hope you're all keeping well (and warm) and enjoyed your Easter weekend. I'm currently mulling over what to do with my youngest during the hols. It would normally be picnics and parks but it's not looking too hopeful with this chilly weather.
  16. Just snuck over from the SE thread to salivate over your snow pics and reports. Brilliant pics folks, I shall now slope off back to a dry and murky area...
