Currently sitting at 0c in Peebles. What a dull, gloomy day and absolutely raw walking into the wind. The rain started at lunchtime and it’s just got darker and darker since then.
Slight top up from what we had last night, temp is currently -1c so Peebles seems to have been in a bubble during this event. Have seen the warnings have been extended.....not holding out much hope of any more though. School transport still not running today but all schools are open.
Thoughts to Blitzen and Catch.
Proper snow here, has been on for a good hour now and is starting to settle. SBC have cancelled all school clubs tonight and have already said that school transport will not run tomorrow. Also possible school closures depending, to be updated at 6.30am tomorrow. T is 0.7c
Left Peebles this morning in torrential rain, got to Eddleston and the sleet started which turned to heavy snow and Leadburn was all white. Now here just outside Penicuik, it's torrential rain again. Dull, dreicht, miserable.
-2c here and our snow cover has frozen. You can still see the grass in most places, but it's a lovely dusting and the sky is looking promising. Lovely to look out on instead of driving rain!
-2c when I left for work this morning. Lots of standing water on the roads made for a tricky drive, but it's much better than battling through the rain. My heart goes out to all those suffering flooding again. Having seen it happen in my own town last week, it's so devastating and destructive, here's hoping for a long dry spell and perhaps a bit of the white stuff.
A couple of pics I took when out earlier. Lots of homes being evacuated, including an old folks home, emergency vehicles all over the place. Hats off to the council and emergency services for getting everyone out so quickly. It's devastating
