I thought people might like to try and identify the animal tracks, plus a distant view of Bowland and if you look carefully Black Coombe and the Coniston fells
I noticed that driving into Preston the temperature rose from -4 at home to 0 going over Walton summit, it then fell again to - 4 as I entered the built up area which is not what normally happens I wonder if this could partially explain why? Coming back again it was colder in the centre of Preston then elsewhere.
A balmy -8.5 here, but my outside sensor is sandwiched between our house and next door I suspect it is colder out in the open as we still have a complete snow cover.
Most cold spells tend to last about 2 weeks, I think we have done quite well for a pre Christmas cold spell. In the short term could we get a little snow tonight, I don’t think there would be any problems with it not settling.
No but it was amazing the variation in snow cover even tiny differences in altitude made a difference. We travelled to wales over easter and there were large variations not just due to altitude for example there was no snow around Betws-y-coed but lots nearer the coast. On friday 5th april we drove back through Lllangollen and there was100% snow cover there even the pavements had a couple of foot of snow on them in places.
