  1. The headline says Environment Agency - they're not predicting the weather, just highlighting how saturated the ground is. I'm amazed at how quickly the groundwater seems to have recovered as they're saying that there's not a lot of space left even in the aquifers. Good, though - was getting quite concerning after that long, long drought.
  2. Morning all - just thought I'd delurk briefly. I'm pretty confident that it's going to be hussing it down in North Essex in a couple of hours. Partly because of the radar and partly because it's the last chance for the sports day at my kiddos' school, been cancelled twice already so it's clearly jinxed
  3. Looking at the(free NW) radar it appears to be bucketing down something over much of Norfolk and Suffolk - yet there's not much excitement in here? Is this the vanishing ppt like we had last Saturday before it the real snow kicked in? I'm a bit ambivalent over this event to be honest, it's such a pain getting around here at the moment with all the compacted snow, I'd quite like a brief thaw to clear that away before any more arrives. Speaking of which, the northerly that appears to be firming up for next week - is that the sort of flow which could give us snow here?
  4. 'Tis a tad blowy out there. Nothing too scary though Did think my neighbour was a bit daft putting outdoor lights out this evening (yes, actually in the dark ...) - could they not wait a couple more days?! Wierd to hear rain, actually - been a pretty rare occurrence recently.
  5. I'd say that 'dumbing' down' the forecasts is pandering to the lowest common denominator. Except denominator is probably too long a word... (Hello, by the way - long time lurker, just had to pipe up on this thread as I think this is a little ridiculous. Maybe someone at the Campaign had bad weather at an important event or something and is taking it out on the met office?)
  6. I noticed that a teeny bit had settled in the corner of a fence this morning - thought I'd gone mad!
  7. Well, it's quite nice to see the road defrosting a bit. It'll be good to be able to take the car out without risking life and limb in the first three seconds of the journey. Very, very murky here. The fog has lifted a little since this morning but doesn't look like its going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
  8. Teasingly light flurry in North Colchester - I just noticed it out of the window, glanced away, glanced back and it was gone! I'm getting a little fed up with all the icy slush now to be honest. Either snow or a proper thaw to get rid of the the last messy vestiges. Oh, actually it's started snowing again - a little heavier now. Looks pretty wet but I hope you'll excuse be for not going out there to make a better judgement! ETA. Pretty much stopped again. I give up!
