We have been experiencing thunder for the past hour! Intense lightening lit up my living room! Reports of it hitting a friends washing pole....not as good as when Hurricane Sandy swept past the Dominican but not bad AT ALL! The rain is also pretty spectacular! LOVE STORMS!

Coming down thick and heavy this evening. Roads are already covered again!

Serious thaw going on here, even though still snowing lightly. Icicles are melting quickly and snow disappearing fast.

I think we are now experiencing the lull that some further west have been talking about. Snow has stopped now, but wind picking up. Got some lovely icicles forming outside too.

Just curious... How come the met office have isolated that one area as being the 'red zone'? Considering the band is fairly large, im just wondering why it is only that area at such high risk? Thanks in advance!

It has not stopped here since 2:45am! Good accumulations outside...may measure in a bit. Hubby made it to work this morning in merthyr...told me he has never driven in such horrendous conditions. Im hoping they let him home early as no doubt it is worse there than it is here.

Stagecoach buses in south wales are currently cancelled! Has not stopped here since 2:45am. Gusting winds and large flakes!

Just had a really lovely walk down to blackwood. Snowing non stop...some lovely big chunky flakes...have to say I really enjoyed it!

5 degrees in Newport and sleet is falling. On my way home to the valleys now where im sure it'll be a little colder. Usually a 2 degree difference. Sky is very white!

Yep this was 18th December 2010! My cousin got married on the 27th November 2010 and I remember having to take 7 trips to the venue because a coach couldn't get up the hill due to the ice on the roads! Amazing photos Jackfrost!! Really enjoyed looking through them. Even more in the mood for this now! Thanks for sharing

Evening ladies and gents! Still looks uncertain for us...I remember a few years back watching this thread as we were absolutely hammered by the snow. I remember walking my dog over the local field and it was certainly blizzard conditions. Couldn't see infront of our noses it was that bad! Had a good half an hour of really extreme snow! Loved it! Looking forward to watching this thread unravel this weekend...fingers crossed for some snow, but hoping I can get to the hospital Tuesday as we have our first baby scan! So, if anyones having a beverage this friday evening, have one for me!

Small world. I'm from Cefn Fforest so only a little higher than those in Blackwood. I did the bad thing yesterday and announced on facebook that it was going to snow this weekend. After todays headlines, they think I'm some sort of psychic! Hehe...I love this forum! I'm hoping we have a good dumping, but it could go either way at the mo!
