Thunderstorm just passed through here, with a few CG strikes and some hail for good measure

yes, as mentioned it is indeed a fallstreak hole, caused by super-cooled droplets finding a suitable freezing nuclei, such as that expelled in aircraft exhaust fumes. It has a chain effect in that surrounding super-cooled droplets also start to freeze and fall, creating the observed circular hole

Ahhh, nothing like the potential for a few good storms to get me through the last week of school! Im looking forward to seeing how this will play out each new model run is like opening a door on me advent calender!
