    First "guided" gritting run on the Leigh Ellenbrook guided busway this morning, has -2.8 c in a couple of the frost hollows, here's to plenty more runs being required this winter!!!

    Morning all, been preparing for the first operational winter on the Leigh Ellenbrook Guided Busway. Been gritter driving over the last couple of week. Should be getting the outline winter forecast from Wigan Council in the next week, hoping that we have some winter weather to battle through this year!!

    We had a couple of inches in Worsley, just got into Oldham, there's about 4 inches in the town centre, areas towards the Pennines will be screwed!

    Nothing in Oldham for a hour now, starting to get darker though, radar doesn't look that hopeful though!

    Looking at the radar, looks like the wind is starting veer more NNW, pushing showers from further North rather than across from Ireland, maybe something to watch over the next few hours.

    Stopped for the last 20 mins in Oldham, crashes all over the place in the Town Centre, I thought Albanians and Romanians would be able to drive in the snow. Most buses now stopped and College in Town centre been closed.......all for a bout 1" of snow.............crazy!!

    Settling on the roads on Oldham Town Centre. Elevation is obviously the key here, number of ppl ringing in re blocked roads further up the Pennines.

    The precip just to the South of the IOM may just be setting up a steamer, still need the DP and temp to drop a bit, currently 2c temp and 1c dp in worsley.

    First hail shower here in Oldham Town Centre, now 3c temp, dew point 1c, blooooody windy!!! Eastern Europeans in 1980's jumpers being blown all over the place!!

    Looking forward to the DP dipping down and the streamers starting to form later on. There was one a few yrs ago, I think 22nd or 23rd Dec 2009 that just followed East Lancs Rd all the way to Central Manchester, didn't stop for hours, it was amazing snow, with the Manchester Snow Shield being well and truly battered!!.

    Hammering down here in Oldham town centre, lots of the buses have stopped running, receiving lots of calls re ungritted roads being impassable.
