  1. East Lancs Rain yes, this is not finishing above 20C now, to which I am glad. I don't sleep well in heatwaves and my July CET guess was 18.5C
  2. East Lancs Rain Yes, it's where I go on holiday. Most likely in the future, it will be where you will find me during heatwaves!
  3. Is there anyone on here with a local forecast of less than 25C for the warmest day of either Fri or Sat? Even Fort William is showing 26C Friday and 29C on Saturday on the BBC Weather app .. The only slightly cooler spots on the mainland I found are the very fringes of Cornwall such as Lizard with highs of 23C on Friday
  4. It's nice when you can open the doors and windows all day at home and the indoor and outdoor temperatures stay the same, which is what my indoor/outdoor thermostat was showing today. Tomorrow will be the last time I will be able to do that for the next two weeks here in Coventry. We're turning up the heat again - metaphorically.. in reality, I am turning on the fans and portable A/C unit.
  5. Let's make an assumption here that after June 17C, we get a July CET of 18.7C. (I think it's going to be above this but being conservative) What would August have to be to beat the warmest summer on record?

  7. Summer8906 it's why Brits head to places like Spain in late autumn and walk around in t-shirts and shorts in 19C thinking how warm it is, and the locals are dressed in jackets commenting its a bit nippy.
  8. Summer8906 Good question. I wasn't in England for much of Aug 1995. I went to Florida and absolutely melted. When I came back I asked my Dad why all the grass verges were so brown. The verges look similar right now here, and it's only early summer..
  9. I appear to acclimatised. Anything below about 21C, I feel a bit cold! From Weds to Fri 18th the BBC weather app doesn't show a temperature below 21C between 10am and 10pm in my locality on any day, so not long to feel cold..
  10. WYorksWeather Hi WYW yes I would agree with what you said. I was reflecting on my question this afternoon. In my locality, a 20C July would likely be oppressive. Our heat is more often than not accompanied with humidity which makes for uncomfortable nights sleeps. However, in other areas of the country, such as Scotland, that would translate as a lovely month in the mid to high twenties.. Equally during the 2022 heatwave I remember sitting on the beach in Pembrokeshire in 20C whist London was sweltering in 39C. So if I'm on holiday at the beach, bring on the heat. If I am home, I'm happy to miss that "perfect storm synoptic" we are all bracing ourselves for.
  11. Which camp are you in? I always thought I was in the Yes camp, but veering towards No now..
  12. reef thanks Reef I went to Google and found the relevant page and it was you who remarked on the opening day figure - see screenshot. The 1961-90 average is 10.5C, so +9.3C..
  13. Summer Sun 22.4 to the 1st 6.4c above the 61 to 90 average 6.0c above the 91 to 20 average If there has been a higher anomaly than 6.4c above the 61 to 90 average for the first of any month, I have yet to see one.
  14. Thunderboom I would say Yorkshire is two weeks away from a hosepipe ban, if this dry weather continues. I can see E Midlands and SE also not far behind. The local brook in Coventry where I live is reduced to a trickle.
  15. So as others have mentioned, we have now seen two 17.0C Junes in the last 3 years. From 1977 until 2017, we had not recorded a single June CET of 16.1°C or above — but have now seen four such Junes in the past nine years: 2017 (16.1°C) 2018 (16.1°C) 2023 (17.0°C) 2025 (17.0°C)
