  1. Brighter here in East Norfolk - but no blue sky yet. Cold on the morning dog walk. Promise of something better tomorrow (always a promise!) before the cloud returns from Sunday onwards. It's so cold!!!
  2. 50 Shades of Grey: an apt description of the weather in East Norfolk over the last 3 days. Back in winter clothes and fighting hard to resist the temptation to fire up the heating again.
  3. Replying to the comments about a lack of sunshine this month, I can only refer to the kWh generated by our solar panels here in East Norfolk: only167 to date. To put that in context, March totals for the last 7 years from 2022 bck to 2016 have been: 488; 336; 465; 398; 278; 425; 387. This gives a March average of 389. I can't see where another 200+ kwh hours are going to come from the rest of this month (given the outlook); it would need 20 a day! To add insult to injury, we recorded 275 kwh this February (admittedly a good month), so for us to even get to that figure would require 10 kwh a day for the rest of this month - and we've only managed that daily total 5 times so far this month. This vaguely mild muck is so soul-destroying.
  4. At 19:03, the sun out in its first appearance of the day. By 19:07, it had had enough and disappeared back behind the unrelenting blanket of grey cloud. 4 minutes of sun on August 30th!
  5. Despite Met Office saying to the contrary, we have had continuous snow all morning - sometimes quite heavy. 8 miles from the east coast.
  6. Starting to ease off here. Probably the 3-5 cm predicted. Not bad considering we are only 8 miles from the coast and just 11m asl
  7. Dan Holley and Weatherquest saying 64 mm for Acle yesterday. Exceptional!
  8. Not surprised by this. Heavy rain continuously since 7.30am. Local villages now cut off. Trains cancelled and A47 to Norwich v dodgy
  9. Tipping it down in Acle. Street lights still on. Now for the dog walk ....
  10. A little bit of light rain here. Barely enough to dampen the ground in Arid Acle!
  11. Back from walking the dogs on the marshes. 6C and persistent drizzle - much the same as yesterday! And, on the face of it, this is the better day of the weekend. As for tomorrow, I have picked a bad day to travel over to Yarmouth?
  12. STOP PRESS: The ? is shining through the cloud in Acle. Maybe time to take the thermals off as the temp shot up from 7C to 9C during the morning dog walk!
  13. Another horrible day in East Norfolk - even colder and foggier than yesterday! I thought I’d take a look at the data from our solar panels and compare the first 11 days of April with last year's. The results confirm just how dull it has been recently: 108 kWh compared with 211 this time last year ( about 50%). Latest met office forecast has taken away the previously dangled carrot of a bit of sunshine for tomorrow. Now looking more like next Monday/Tuesday for this part of the world bar the odd peep over the weekend. Grumble Grumble.
