  1. Lost my rear fence last night to the storm, and spent today bodging it back into place, only for an almighty storm to arrive just now. Thunder, lightning, heavy gusts and sideways rain. It's probably already been blown back down....
  2. Had some nice views of it in Scarborough. I was out without my camera unfortunately, but got a screen grab from my phone at dusk. Shame I didn't have my proper kit as I've wanted a shot like this from this location for a while!
  3. Moderate snow 'falling' right now. I say falling but it is almost horizontal in the wind. Not laying at my low (30m) elevation, but I can't imagine it off laying up in to of the hills around town. Tempted to venture out and check it out in the car
  4. Can see a wall of snow passing to the north over Scarborough. Been going for a good 20 mins and got barely anything falling here with the last accumulation already starting to melt again. I'm assuming it's whiteout conditions up on Irton moor and northwards. Shame I'm stuck working from home
  5. Showers are intermittent and quite brief here, but they are exceptionally heavy at times. Driving down the A170 a little while back and it went from clear road to white over in a matter of a mile. Roads in my village were quite treacherous with compacted snow/ice from last night covered with a fresh load of snow. The last shower to come through had proper large flakes and it's nice to get away from the bean bag filler stuff we were seeing yesterday! Can still see the top of the grass through the snow so total accumulations are still somewhat disappointing but I'll take it considering the rest of this winter!
  6. First covering of the winter here now. Only a cm or so on the roads but plenty more where that came from!
  7. A slight "dusting" of wet snow over the top of Irton Moor heading into town. Some nice flakes making it down closer to sea level, but not got a real chance of laying at at this level. Story of this winter really!
  8. For the first time this winter, I think I can call what is falling outside snow (rather than the sleety nonsense we've been plagued with!). 30m ASL and about 2 miles south SW of Scarborough. Not laying mind you and I don't have a huge hope for the main band later, so I suspect we'll have to continue to see if this Easterly brings us any luck
  9. Moderate wet snow all day at high level in Scarborough. Outside of a brief period around 7:30-8:00am it hasn't really laid much, and even then it was just a slushy mess. Not much more than sleet and rain at lower level. Given the amount which has fallen around here, I suspect we'd have had some immense totals if the uppers were a couple of degrees cooler!
  10. Been snowing for a fair few hours up Sutton Bank now. Cars been covered whilst I went for a walk. Drive home should be fun!
  11. This evenings was something to behold, especially given the incredibly marginal conditions apparent this morning. There was probably always going to be a few sparkers around but nothing with the structure or lightning of the cell near Brid this evening!
  12. Definitely had the characteristics of a supercell. Notable rotation aloft, good inflow feeding into it. A nice split with a robust right mover. Didn't get much hail where I was I was nearly stuck and bailed to get some distance but I'd say it meet much of the criteria. Just got in with 1590 shots to go through. Will try get a teaser up in the short term though
