  1. I like all of the Mammatus clouds above them, as they drive underneath the anvil of the supercell.
  2. Tornado Watch issued for most of northern MO and far northeast Kansas.
  3. I just wanted to update the my post from yesterday: Authorities have found two more bodies. So, the number of people killed in the Kirksville,MO tornado is now 3.
  4. Sad news: One person is confirmed dead from the tornado that did significant damage to the north side of Kirksville,MO.
  5. Tornado Warning now for the cell to their northeast.
  6. Already had some tornado reports in northeast MO. According to a chaser at the scene, a house has been "leveled" , west of Kirksville,MO.
  7. Storms are starting to form on the cold front, from central IA into northwest MO, and into eastern KS. That storm near Emporia,KS just exploded in the last 30 mins. SPC better get the tornado watch out for eastern Kansas soon. Just as I posted they put out a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. They don't think there is enough sheer in this area, and the upper level winds are not very strong for widespread tornadoes.
  8. The storms over me (I'm in Nebraska) are elevated and should not produce tornadoes. I do agree with Tony Gilbert regarding tomorrow, the 13th. The best tornado threat of the week appears to be coming tomorrow in MO and IL. I would give up on today's low chances, and heard towards Kansas City for the night. Tomorrow if you needed to drive towards St.Louis or even Chicago, you would be in a much better position. Just my opinion. On a personal note: I am a meteorologist here in the US, and I have absolutely LOVED following this group as they chase across the Plains. I love the real time streaming, along with the posting of the pics and the video. This site is great! I wish more groups of weather enthusiasts would do something like this! If the group is ever in Omaha,NE for a stop, I'd like to meet you guys. Hopefully you are not here to see a tornado (I love tornadoes, but I love my house even more! )
  9. Sloopy... I think you might have seen those abbreviations in the "Storm Chase USA 2009" discussion. In weather terminology here in the US, MCS means "mesoscale convective system". Of course, a mesoscale convective system is basically another way to describe a Multi-cellular Storm; so I guess it really doesn't matter which defination that you use.
