  1. stainesbloke I wonder why we've got the accolade as the second most miserable nation on earth? At least Swamprow/Heathrow promises the opportunity to flee to sunnier climes!
  2. @jtay Couldn't agree more!! The devils work ....wellies, gumboots or whatever you want to call them. My dog walks during the mild damp mudfest are undertaken in stout walking boots even if that makes navigation through flooded fields challenging. Roll on a winter freeze and frozen ground or a warm dry spring. Muddy dogs are tiresome!!
  3. Looks like it might get some. My eldest is currently at Britannia RNC, Dartmouth - I expect a snowfall will make his early morning runs even more enjoyable than usual! Hope you have a good snowy break down there.....I always like the Ferry boat Inn for a beer or two, in nearby Dittisham.
  4. Just back from a late afternoon dog walk ....braving the North Hampshire Snowfest!! Ok snowfest might be an exageration but we do have a dusting, of sorts, on selected surfaces ......and it felt very cold especially with the brisk easterly breeze!
  5. Chaos around North Hampshire area. 3 of the 4 roads out of my village blocked by flood water and multiple abandoned cars. M3 closed due to flooding and mainline from Basingstoke to Southampton blocked by landslip at Micheldever. 6. Chaos around my village with 3 of the four routes out cut by flooding. Numerous cars abandoned......and raining again! 8. From Met Office warning... "A spell of rain is expected to move northeast across southern and eastern parts of England on Thursday, clearing during Thursday night. The track of the heaviest rainfall remains very uncertain, but there is a chance of 20-30 mm falling in 6-9 hours across a portion of the warning area, with a few places perhaps seeing 40-50 mm. Impacts are more likely due to the current very wet ground across the region".
  9. Oh good ...more rain inbound tomorrow evening!! UK weather warnings - Met Office WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK More walks like yesterday's ??
  10. Brightened up here with some blue sky after a grey dismal day. .....And the wind has gone from nothing to blowing a hoolie!
  11. I was up in Four Marks, near Alton just before lunchtime....205m, so good altitude. Flurries of snow were coming down, ground looked patchy white for a while, but that was about it. Back between Basingstoke and Newbury now with no snow/rain and patches of blue sky.
  12. And Austria!! ...frequently ski .....here, Fieberbrunn, valley station is quite low and usually looks green at this time of year. bergfex - Webcam Fieberbrunn Talstation Streuböden - Fieberbrunn / Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang - Cam - Livecam WWW.BERGFEX.COM Webcam Fieberbrunn Talstation Streuböden - Fieberbrunn / Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang: Alle Informationen zur Live Webcams Fieberbrunn / Saalbach...
  13. Beautiful morning. Fabulous that the muddy paths had frozen overnight..but Otto was confused by his favourite "splash in me puddle" malfunctioning!
  14. Yes, I'm in the northern extremities of Hampshire between Basingstoke and Reading. I also woke up with a cracking headache ....putting it down to the very low pressure, the empty wine bottle or a combo.
  15. Same here in Bramley, just north of Basingstoke. Dead calm.
  16. My sister is in Newlyn ....and said it was already a bit wild!! Parked her car up the hill to avoid it becoming a fish trap. I'll ask for photos.
  17. Yes but to be fair it's probably a bit more robust than the train services which many of the students rely on ...travelling in from all over Hampshire.
