  1. Today has been a day of much gorgeousness with clear, blue skies and sunshine! Damned cauld an' a'! As for the white stuff, well, we'll see, eh? There's a chance we may see some tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath!
  2. A glorious weekend up here, wall to wall blue skies and frosty mornings! Big change now! Rained a bit during the night, but has cleared up a bit now, so I guess that's Winter just aboot done wi', such as it was. Am hopeful of a pleasant spring and let's just wait and see what, ahem, Summer holds for us!
  3. For some strange reason, then wind appears to have dropped a tad. I SHOULDN'T HAVE SAID THAT! You know what'll happen! It'll do what it's gonna do that's for sure and I've seen three forecasts tonight and all are a bit different. I'm hoping it won't be as bad as predicted. So, stay safe folks, just in case!
  4. Snaw has vanished overnight. Every last flake o' it! Temp now at 7.5c as opposed to -3c. Ach well, it wiz bonnie while it lasted, but I'm glad I didn't have to drive anywhere in it. I think we managed around 4 - 5 inches of the white stuff where I am, bi I believe other parts of the island had a helluva lot more.
  5. Snaw went off about 35 minutes ago. That's the longest spell of snaw up here I remeber seeing for a while! Honest, I will try and get some piccies posted!
  6. Nae snaw in Skye, had a teeny dusting a couple of hours ago and that was it. MIght get a bit better during the week, so have stocked up freezer just in case! As well as wine rack, booze cupboard etc, etc. I'm sure ye catch ma drift!
  7. A belated Happy New Year to one and all! Horrible day here, but I'll put up with it as better things are on the way! A bit of sunshine and frost makes a huge difference! Anything is better that the grey murk we have here just now.
  8. Well, what a cracker yesterday was! Woke to gorgeous white frosted grass, and the temp didn't get above 2.3c all day. Until the eveing, off course. Then this morning it showed 6.3c on my weather station. You couldn't make it up! Been a horrible day here, horizontal showers etc, and it looks like we'll be in for more of the same over the next few days. Am off noo tae sulk in a corner!
  9. According to both of my weather stations it's 14.1c ootbye at the moment. Horrible, dreich day. Looking a bit more seasonal for the weekend which is very welcome!
  10. Weather station tells me it's a balmy 14.4c and the sun is trying to shine! Too much cloud though, light breezes, occasional showers. Much worse to come tomorrow when I'll be staying put and may indulge in a wee dram to welcome the Equinoctial Gales!
  11. I'm longing for some rain, just to clear the air a bit. Never thought I'd hear myself say those words on here! There are some showers in the north of the island, but they seem to be missing out where I am. Och well, maybe tomorrow. Saturday looks like a better bet though, with a drop in temps too, so maybe get a decent night's sleep at some point over the next few days. Please, oh please.....!!
  12. Afternoon all, been a wee while since I've been on here, but nowt much to report. Crappy day today, dull and miserable, but no rain yet, although it's not far away. Skye still heaving wi' camper vans and the like, I'll be glad when Autumn arrives! Quite cool now although the weather station tells me it's 19c ootbye. I dinnae think so, I've got my fleece on and am contemplating lighting a fire!
  13. Well, we did have a tiny drop of rain yesterday and the occasional rumble of thunder but today we're back to very warm and humid. Hoping we get some rain later on even just to clear the air and make life a wee bit more comfortable, especially at night!
  14. According to both weather stations at home the highest temp where I am was 27.6c this afternoon. At the moment the station is quoting 29.9c but I don't reckon that will be very accuarte. However, the old mercury thermometer says 25c just now. That's probably closer to the truth. Either way it's too bloody hot for me. Longing for a bit of rain at the weekend, even just to save me hauling the watering can to the veg patch!
  15. Morning Happy Campers! Roasting up here, weather station says 24c and it's just after 8am. Guess I won't be doing as much in the garden today as anticipated! Waaaaaay too hot for me! We've not had any thunder here but I did see some flashes of lightning away over on the mainland early Saturday morning. A mere drip or two of rain only and not much more forecast any time soon. Not good! Our local hotel and one other house in the village have private water supply. Guess they'll be limiting showers there then!
  16. Current temp 19c and didn't drop much below that overnight. Overcast, muggy, horrible day! Had a tiny drop of rain a wee while ago but doesn't look like we'll see much more of that this week. Pity, would save me endless trips with the watering can to the veg patch! The only things that have started growing is tatties ( and weeds, of course! ), nothing else so much as showing a tiny bit of green. So, probably no broad beans, runner beans or peas this year.
  17. Och, Jings, Crivvens and Help ma Boab! I melts I does! Waaaay too hot out there for my liking! Had intended to do a lot more weed pulling today but have given up as the hips, back and legs are telling me to stop! So will leave it for a cooler morning and get stuck in again. So dry, can't remeber the last time we had rain up here...... Could do with some to save me watering the veggies so often!
  18. Morning all! Cool and cloudy here, light breeze, so midges won't be a problem in the garden today. No rain forecast in the foreseeable, so the watering can will be deployed for the veggies today. And tomorrow, and the day after...... Everything parched, I expect a hosepipe ban soon, NW Highlands looking dodgy. Probably have a few more wildfire episodes like last week near Snecky. Worrying.
  19. Someone in our village recorded an 86mph gust earlier today. Don't know how the power managed to stay on! Calming down now, thankfully!
  20. Good morning from a very chilly Skye! It was -7.2c at 7.30 this morning but has now reached a balmy -5.4c. No further snow forecast over next few days, so now I just need to see what happens over the weekend. Managed a wee walk yesterday and hopefully get another one in today.
  21. Good morning Happy Campers! It's a Diamond Day here, blue, blue skies and lots of sparkly frost. Going to attempt a wee walk today if the wee road at the back of my house is ok, main road is fine. Currently -5c, but no wind, so doesn't actually feel that cold. I feel the excitement mounting on this thread, some of you are in for a hammering over the next few days. Bet lots of you will be doing a happy dance in the snaw!
