  1. I agree, my earlier post suggests that we are entering a real change in the pattern and the storms over the next week start that process. The artic high will be crucial regardless of where the chunk of PV sits saying that the PV could be great for the under cut scenario as you refer too.....looking forward to it
  2. Interestingly enough there is a pattern change which has just started. The forecasted temps over the next week to 10 days look to drop off to about 5-7c in the south and 4-6c further north. Although we have "zonal" conditions forecast the source of the air is from a cooler source now and will continue to do so in the reliable time frame. Predictions of white Christmas for some from the met o, interesting storms and the potential for some colder weather as we get into January via a SSW and southerly jet.......don't forget last week many were adamant that the high was set to stay......keep your eyes peeled some interesting charts to come!!!
  3. wet here in Poole, Dorset. Temp 9.2c The snow is nice for a while but very glad to see it go!! could get interesting mid Feb me thinks!
  4. im not doubting it at all just unusual especially right next to the south coast
  5. but for 4c is very rare for that to happen the conditions othere than the actual temp need to be 100% perfect very unusal wimborne should be colder really
  6. ok mate that makes sense, I was thinking it must be so marginal for that kind of set up. although A35 in places still relatively close to the coast though
  7. I cant understand how dorchester/bridport have snow and Poole just has rain? its crazy
  8. Snow all gone now, tbh its probably not a bad thing it wasnt ever going to be heavy and enjoybale here. Id rather it be clear and safe here rather than thin slushy slippery ice
  9. rain in poole dorset as it has been for the past 2/3 hours............no surface snow left
  10. heavy snow for the past 30 mins in Poole. Starting to settle on the grass and cars and a little on the pavements temp 0.9c
  11. for different religions they cant eat pork.....also just the deception of it all.......i think
  12. Looks like the snow signal is for shaftesbury upto evesham northwest to brecon beacons the down to neath then back through to Exeter (Exeter likely to be snow to sleet/rain) . Areas further south and east to within 3-5 miles of the coast will get light sleet and 0-3 miles of the coast will be light rain potentially freezing rain to begin with. the snow prone areas will look at 5-10 cm lower areas 3-5cm. The greater risk between 6pm-12am Tuesday for the heaviest ppm. will then going into Wednesday morning fizzle out to the south of our region and will remain cold. The likely hood of milder air pushing in on Saturday is about 60% at this stage with all models coming on board with the evolution of the transistion all slightly different with each model hence the 60%.
  13. I think its important to remember that Fridays Snow wasnt forecast to fall as snow on the south coast untill pretty close to the event........I for one will not be looking at that type of information with too many inconsistancies between models and positionings of LPs and PPn. Just to show this, the attached picture shows Christchurch (mudeford) beach
  14. suprised to see some in Poole and Bmouth moaning??? Just think back between 1996 and 2008 hardly anything..... Interesting to note our bigger falls over the past 3 years have been due to E/SE winds rather than a northerly....Our winter pattern in the UK has certainly changed and long may it continue!!! 5cms here in Poole!
