Torrential rain just stopped in Woolton, Liverpool. Rain heading over towards St Helens and Wigan way. Sun shining now.

Thunder overhead here in Newton-le-Willows. No rain or lightning yet.

A slight dusting here on cars and grass, the roads and pavements are clear and wet. Same as yesterday, No Yellow warnings were required here.

Moderate snow here, but only slight covering on the grass, pavements and roads are wet.

Just had this email from my Son's High School......... My attention has just been drawn to the weather forecast for Ashton-in-Makerfield for tonight and tomorrow. In brief, it is going to snow all night and all tomorrow morning and there is a Met Office yellow warning in place for ice and snow. To avoid unnecessary risks, I am therefore making the decision now that the school will be closed tomorrow. Please check the school website over the weekend regarding opening on Monday, however, be assured that every attempt will be made to do so.

There's been heavy to torrential rain here in Newton le Willows, Merseyside for the past 30 minutes. Surface water on roads, guttering overflowing, etc. No thunder and lightning yet though, but a cool breeze.

It's been seriously disappointing here in Newton. The kids have desperately wanted a snow day!

Here in Newton le Willows we've just had a ten minute spell of torrential rain, forked and sheet lightning and squally winds. People running to get indoors. Passed over quickly. All calm now.
