  1. Quite something that for 17/1 (ie. a week away!), not one member is out of the -5 to -10 range for 850s. Astonishing agreement
  2. Just started again in Ashbourne - looks like the 2 bands are closing in from the N and the S and most of the N Midlands it getting a taste.
  3. Disappointingly, we just had a shower of very wet snow/sleet in Ashbourne - I thought the current temps would be OK for snow, but obviously not.
  4. Finally snowing here in Ashbourne - fairly beefy as well. And I'd like to concur with Potent Gust's signature - come on you Villa boys
  5. Anyone know what's occurring with the Cryosphere Today website? I can only see info that's a week old on the main page, but when I click on the mobile app link, it is fully up-to-date. Strange
  6. Back up & running today - showing a decent recovery in ice since it went off-line
  7. I probably count as East Mids - 3 or 4 showers here (Belper), each one more beefy than the last, currently 0degC. All good dry snow - hopefully just a taster of things to come!
  8. Thanks for that. It was -30 the first time I went to Banff, quite a shock to the system, but absolutely loved it. Never really been to Canmore itself, just to the outskirts for some husky sleding
  9. I'm extremely jealous of you - fortunately I've been able to book a holiday in Banff this Christmas, after several years of not going. Are the experts generally going for a cold winter in Alberta? I just love stepping out of Calagary airport & getting that first hit of insanely cold air. It just isn't the same if it's hovering around freezing, or above. Off Topic, but I'm looking to buy a place in the area, but have heard that only Canucks are allowed to buy within the National Park - do you know if that's true?
  10. Hi everyone, just checking in for the winter, having made little or no contribution last winter! Just wondering - should we also be keeping an eye on the positive anomaly near the azores (actually, west of Portugal, but it's close!!), as this would surely encourage the NAO to remain negative. Is this as important as having a cold GIN sea anomaly, or just a red herring?
  11. Just started to get a bit heavier in the last half hour & is beginning to settle on pavements. Looking at the radar though, I can't see it getting any heavier during this little snowy spell.
  12. Light dusting this morning - not melting yet. Has just begun to snow again, very lightly. Nothing measurable yet.
  13. Has been snowing since at least 9am today, heavy & light. Still seems too warm to accumulate. For the record, we had 1-2" of level snow by yesterday morning, and it continued to snow steadily until the evening, but as it did so, the lying snow gradually melted. So now we just have the odd patch of snow in the garden, which obviously cannot be measured.
  14. Just started snowing again - lovely dry snow. Just a flurry at the moment, though.
  15. Just had a 40 minute flurry - too light to settle on salted pavements & roads. It was proper snow though, none of your sleety rubbish.
  16. Conditions here oscillating between light rain & heavy wet snow
  17. Snowing here since 11 am - fairly light though. First snow I've seen from this current cold snap.
  18. Massive snow flakes here, but don't know the temp. Elevation under around 130m
