Surely if you follow football and also the weather you will realise that forecasting the weather (especially snow) can change within a 12 hour period.To say they should have called it earlier in the week is ludicrous.If they called it off and there was no snow the same people would cry they had acted to early.They are in a "no win" situation on this one I'm afraid.

snow relatively heavy in Carlisle now.Has been snowing all be it lightly since about half 8 this morning so roads are wet but this definitely has potential for a little whiteness to form

Sleet now falling in Carlisle.quite big flakes in amongst it.I suppose its a start lol.

I think if you look outside you will see there has already been a heavy shower passed through about 10 minutes ago.Cars all have remnants of snow on windscreens etc.

Well Lets face it.That aint really a hard statement to make.You have a 50/50 chance of being right.I could say it will whimper out like a scolded puppy.At least one of us will be right. There is an awful lot of POTENTIAL on SOME of tonights runs.However it is ALL in FI and NOT in what most people would call the reliable timeframe.Charts at the moment are only good for spotting trends IMO and not for forecasting with any confidence past +96hrs.I will admit though it would be great if even some of the charts came off from tonight as it shows some MEGA cold air slipping in from the South East on the ECM which is what we really need to start any prolonged cold spell.

Temp here dropped to -1.6c overnight.Everything back to a nice crisp white this morning.Grass,cars.roofs etc.Even the road was glistening white this morning.Probably due to the large ammount of moisture about last night.patches of mist/fog on and off through the night/early this morning.Definitely prefer Cold/White to Mild/Green

Weather Underground actually reporting that there is snow grains falling at SHAP as I type.Well actually Mealds,Mauburn is the given location.Even still. And I know theyre only snow grains so wont ammount to anything before anyone says anything.Just thought I'd point it out.

Hi all, Judging by what everyone is saying and having not seen any radar charts it would apppear the band of snow is way south of Carlisle.somewhere around liverpool by the sounds of it.However we have had approx 2 cm when i awoke and it is now snowing again - HEAVILY. Very Strange.

Hi there, Just to give you a real time update.the band is providing some heavy sleet/snow/hail mix in carlisle at the moment.Enough to start settling on cars but not pure white.Hope This helps.Much more to come you think??

Scrub all previous posts.We now have wisps floating past the window.A chance for a good bit to fall and settle if it gets heavy given the time of day and falling temperature.lets wait and see eh.bring it on.

just for a change carlisle is still SNOWLESS and has been 100% cloud covered for the last 3 hours.typical!!!!!!!!!
