    If you near as near to the coast as Brighton there is always the chance (and most probably likely) that such an event will be what you describe as 'a horrible mess' - but a few miles inland (esp. on high ground) things could be much different ..... if it reaches you! dl

    It has been settling here about 4 miles from Dunkerswell since 6pm last night though melting slowly. dl

    It's been snowing for almost 19 hours here on the Blackdown's near Dunkerswell. Snow cover above 230m but melting slowly. Re: the charts: it would be unusual if such cold air over central europe was displaced as easilly as the GFS suggests - that's pretty heavy air moving in over there. However, as the UK is on the fringes of the cold almost anything could happen. Exciting! dl

    Has been snowing most of the night but with temperatures just under 1C and the snow being mainly light it has been melting from underneath. Looks very pretty out there though. 0830: Snow Temp 0.8C DP 1C dl
