The Maplin one is a clone of the same model I have - it has been working fine for a year or so and for the money you can't really go wrong. My only criticism of it is the LCD display is hard to read - you have to bee looking at it almost straight on to read it. Coupled with Cumulus its a very cheap way of getting your weather station online. I looked at the Davis units, but just the USB interface was more expensive than the weather station I bought.

Thanks Steve. That wikipedia link actually mentions UFOs, so definitely the right things. We often get them at this time of year and they can be spectacular. Here are some more from December:

Can anyone tell me what type of clouds these are and how they form? They often appear above the mountains here in southern Spain looking like UFOs. TIA
