Well, a lot of rain building to the East! Hoping it may turn wintry later today, if there's any still around then. Interesting to note that the GFS and HARMONIE model didn't forecast that PPN to be as organised and heavy as it is. They went for a more patchy affair for 9am. The radar shows otherwise. Shame it's not snow though, we could have been in for a decent event!

Dancerwithwings Wow, -35!! That is next level cold right there . Australia! See I lived in Spain and worked in Gibraltar between June 2018 and Nov 2019 but despite enjoying my job, I missed 'home' too much and decided to move back for that reason. It sounds sad but I also didn't like the fact that the only Weather they had there was either baking hot sun or monsoon level rain. I missed the changing seasons we have here, cold, frost, snow etc... There was never any chance of any of those things in Gibraltar.

What are we thinking for tomorrow? Same as Friday in that it promised something but didn't deliver? I think we have another shot at seeing some light snowfall but nothing that will settle below 250-300m. I thought we would see something wintry falling the other day though, and apart from the slightest hint of sleet in the rain, it didn't happen But I shall be hoping for a different outcome tomorrow. I'm off work for the next 4 days, so apart from Daddy duties with my 6 month old, I shall be following the radar and checking that window when I can

Plain old rain here too I was hoping for some sleet at least! Oh well, hoping for one last snow event before the Winter is out. There's still hope. It's unlikely but remember the cold that March 2018 brought? That was incredible. I had a motorbike back then and got stranded halfway between Oxford and Northampton luckily a guy in a pick up truck stopped at the side of the road and brought me home. Never known cold like it.

markw2680 With you being at 250m ASL, I would expect snow for you. I'm at around 95m ASL so I think more of a sleet mix here, but I do think the West Midlands will see something from this. Whether it's a dusting or a few cm's, there is potential for some lying snow for you guys. This group is very quiet at the moment but I expect a lot more posts by the time I finish work at 9pm

Surprised to see nobody talking about the possible sleet/snow for tomorrow night in the Midlands. I think it will be a sleety/wet snow mix on low ground but anywhere with a bit of elevation, say 150m+, should see some snow that may settle a bit. 850's down to -6 when the PPN arrives in the evening. Granted the 850's do go up into Saturday morning, but there's a chance that some in here might see a dusting or a few cm's. Derbyshire peaks and high ground around Birmingham I expect will see some lying snow for a brief time.

Hmmm, my missus asked me to check the Weather on my phone for tomorrow as her Dad is going on a helicopter ride. Much to my surprise, it says light snow here for 3am, on and off until late morning. I thought it couldn't be right but looking at the HARMONIE model, it does have VERY light PPN over here from 3am for a good few hours. Surely we can't get a dusting of snizzle? I'd take that to be honest, but not sure how hopeful I am of that.
