  1. 17c here this afternoon! Crazy temps for mid Feb! Went to put the washing out in t shirt and shorts and didn't even feel cold
  2. Neil Harris I think the snow was as deep as 2013, bur 2013 definitely stuck around longer! I was working as a domiciliary carer at the time and was cycling from house to house, I can remember having a few hairy moments nearly coming off my bike because of the snow and ice, that seemed to stick around for weeks
  3. Don The chances are getting slimmer as we go through Feb and into March, but I honestly think some of our best snowfalls more recently have been at the end of Feb and start of March. Had around 10cm here at the beginning of last March, and who could forget that beast from the East in March 2018? That was an incredible event. I lived in Northampton at the time and we had a good 10-15cm there that stuck around for a good 4-5 days. Edit: Just found the chart for March 1st 2018, incredible looking chart!
  4. Been a lot of rain here today. 20mm+ at some measuring stations around Leicester. River levels are also high so I think flooding is going to be a problem again. Just a case of what might have been here today. If all of this had been snow, i'd be looking at the deepest snowfall i've ever seen in my lifetime here Oh well, not lost hope for late Feb or early March snowfall. Might not stick around for long but i'd like to see some settling snow before Winter is out.
  5. MattStoke Massive red blob heading your way on the radar. That could result in 30 mins or so of heavy snow.
  6. To make matters worse. Now my phone is trolling me. It says heavy snow but i've just looked outside and it's pure rain
  7. MattStoke I think in terms of how far North they forecast the milder 850's by 9am today, they were pretty much spot on. It did upgrade a bit for you in Stoke, but never looked on the cards for me on the GFS model. ARPEGE was showing some silly amounts a couple of days ago for Leicester. 5-10cm
  8. MattStoke I think the GFS has to take some Credit for this. Even on Monday, it had the milder air further North than most other models. Some models even 2 days ago had the snow as far South as Oxford shocking performance.
  9. Just woken up and it's raining, just pure rain, not even sleet. I'm glad I didn't get my hopes up it's my day off, so i'm going back to bed
  10. MattStoke Wouldn't be a UK Winter Without a downgrade less than 24 hours before the event
  11. MattStoke True. I think one thing is for sure though, it will be rain for all of us, bar the far North of the Midlands by 8pm. That mild air is just too far North
  12. The UKMO actually has it down to start as rain here and then turn to snow around lunchtime, then back to rain
  13. sheikhy The GFS had this nailed down on Monday when the UKMO was going against it. Now the other models have backtracked to what the GFS was originallly showing then. Edit: Well, the UKV looks good but I don't buy it. I guess I can't write it off until tomorrow comes, but i'm not getting my hopes up.
  14. BarometerCat I do think we have a 2-3 hour window when snow will fall, but whether it settles or not will be another thing. Even if it does, it'll be gone by the afternoon.
  15. MattStoke Yeah, Buxton will do very well from this! I can guarantee Glossop, AKA Narnia, will also get about 15-20cm too
  16. MattStoke I wish we were in Yorkshire for this event, to be honest They're going to do very well from this. I'll have to make sure i'm up early tomorrow to catch whatever snow may be falling before it turns to rain. I've got 4 days off work now, so would have loved a good snow event to enjoy it even more, but not to be by the looks of things.
  17. sheikhy There's always March! We had a decent snowfall last March, can't remember the exact date, around the 8th or 9th, I think? It was just after my Birthday and I can remember waking up to around 8-10cm of it. It was washed away by the evening, but was nice to see. The only problem with March snowfall is the higher temps and strength of the sun, but it's the best we can hope for now. The rest of Feb looks very mild. Raging Southerlies for the next 2 weeks!
  18. MattStoke Looks absolutely pants for my location. A cool 1cm before it gets rapidly washed away Still decent for Stoke though, so I don't blame you for getting excited about it
  19. That 9c on Friday is going to be horrible. Depressing watching the snow vanish as quickly as that. That's if it does snow and actually settle first!
  20. GFS nudges it a bit further North again, don't do this!!! Not now 12z output and 18z output...
  21. sheikhy Might take a trip up to Bradgate Park on Thursday, I bet they'll have a dumping up near Old John
