  1. But then again, it was only a short while ago the models were showing winter nivarna wasnt it? You didnt buy into it, so with all due respect, im not buying into a lengthy mild spell either!
  2. Well, reading this after all the earlier posts about wheels falling off...gotta say, ive got one wheel on my wagon, and im still rolling along....
  3. Aah. These are the clouds i was asking about on the mod thread earlier. But they were called rainbow clouds in the article i read. I also read that they're only seen in the uk in winter when the strat is really weak. Its the last sentence i was wondering about, and if there was a connection anywhere between them and a SSW.
  4. Thank you, but this isnt what i meant. I need to find the article i was reading and check again. It specifically said they're normally only seen in the artic, and definitely said only in the northern hemisphere winter. Ive got confused somewhere obvoiusly .
  5. Talking of lowest upper air temperatures. I was reading earlier about the rare 'rainbow cloud' spotted over Scotland earlier. So does that mean the cold upper air is colder than normal, or has moved from the artic over to Scotland? Or am i talking total nonsense lol i understand you only ever see this phenomenon if the polar vortex is really week?
  6. yes. Far to soon. No snow over me on that. Leave it a few more days yet please!
  7. The Carrington event was a G5 storm. I think this time we're talking G2 maximum. Im curious though as to whether these events do affect our weather, same as sunspot numbers. Depending on what you read depends on the answer.!
  8. Theres always hope! As in everything in life, without hope what have you got? And lets face it, not one of us can really say whats going to happen in 2 weeks time with upmost certainty . So where theres uncertainty, theres hope!!!
  9. Dear E17 Boy With regards to the above i can assure you i am doing my upmost to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible and the end results you are looking for will be met. I understand your concern after the problems that were encountered last year, but please be assured that things have changed, lessons were learned and the mistakes will not reoccur. We have a wonderful new addition to the team this year, EQBO, who has already proved to be a valuable asset since taking over from the recently departed WQBO. Also new to our team this year is El Nino. Brought in to replace La Nina he is another valuable asset. Our long term team , the MJO, Downwelling and Wind Reversal among others, now combined with our new members have changed the dynamics completely, thus ensuring your deliveries will be with you by 21st December, giving you plenty of time to distribute across the WHOLE of the uk, especially SOUTH OF THE M4!
  10. Yeah. I realised after, was about 12 years ago. I lost my sign-in details and had to start again with a new name, so i think would have been 2011
  11. I remember seeing a chart like this 10 years ago when i first joined. I asked what the "big black bit" meant. Strangly, nobody replied lol. I understand now of course, but something else i remember from that winter, there was no cold, snow or anything of significance. Lets hope this year is different.
  12. My son is fishing somewhere in northern france. Not to far from paris i believe. To say im worried is an understatement.
  13. Exactly how im seeing things, although im looking through slightly pessimistic eyes as my son ( who's an amputee) is fishing in northern france all this week. Hoping its being overcooked, but not confidently!!
  14. The big kid in me wants a 1963 of course. Snowman building to begin Christmas Eve and end in February!! The sensible adult however thinks give me the mildest winter ever with a very early spring. Dreading the heating bills, i live in a house that confuses itself for a freezer!
  15. In disney for few days and its perfect weather for for the hours of walking. Humidity seems to feel so much lower than 23 degrees at home has seemed recently. (Or maybe the wine has skewed my thermostat)!
  16. With all due respect, ive just re-read back and regardless of my post being pretty much singled out for removal, it still reads like the chat thread.
  17. Haha. Try spending the day in the garden next week and not getting burnt! I'll still be putting on the factor 30!
  18. Maybe a slight blip NEXT weekend before the azores high puts paid to that and at least a good few more days of dry sunny and warm weather. Fingers crossed at least!
  19. Because they had a great great great year last summer? Greater than normal!
  20. If we see the collapse of the AMOC we could be looking at temperatures up to 15 degrees lower(!!!!!!) for the northern hemisphere. Imagine that- we'd all be saying " remember that warm summer of 2023" lol
  21. Apologies to @Addicks Fan 1981 for my rather lousy attempt at humour last night. I always 'open the mouth and engage the brain hours later! You're a very knowledgeable poster so please keep up the hood work, and ignore the sarcasm from idiots like me. Again, im really sorry
