  1. Finished our mini WHW on Sunday in Fort William. I'm losing a toenail and still limping today, definitely want to do the whole thing now though it was just the best fun. Stayed in a pod at Glencoe Ski center for the first night, then a time warp inn in kinlochleven for the 2nd (definite 70/80s vibes going on with the decor and the bed sagged at the sides and in the middle, food was OK though). First day was mixed, second was mostly wet with a bit of hail and snow chucked in for fun and the last day was t-shirts all the way. Driving home to Cornwall for a week on Saturday, could have any type of weather down there.
  2. Can't beat the Highlands, perfect weather for day one of walking. My legs are good but oh flipping Norah my feet.
  3. Pretty nice day here today, warm in the sun, buds everywhere and the gorse flowering (reminds me of home in Cornwall). We're off to do a bit of the west highland way over the weekend. Bridge of Orchy to Fort William. Initially we were going to wild camp, but I chickened out so now staying in a cabin at Glencoe and in an inn at Kinlochleven. Carrying our own bags though. Hoping to do the full route at some point, will definitely camp then, before I get too old and stiff.
  4. Still a bit grey and meh here, though when out with the dog earlier it was nice to see the trees starting to bud. There are daffodils out in the woods (my favourite flowers) and I had to tie my coat round my waist as it was mild. Spring is coming.
  5. Has felt quite spring like here the last two days, which is just as well as had my hair cut today and think my hairdresser got distracted. Feel like I've been scalped and now have chilly ears and no side bangs to hide my double chin.
  6. Bad timing for the evening dog walk, especially when you're wearing slip on clogs. 2 minutes out of the door, hail, lightning and thunder. The dog did a quick about face and dragged us home. Can't have been out of the house for more than 5 minutes but we're all soaked.
  7. The met office has given us a yellow warning so that's it, we're definitely not getting any snow.
  8. Just had a very weird "there's something wrong with my eyesight" moment while hopefully looking for snow on xc weather. Sure enough for Friday, xc weather appeared to be gifting Falkirk a snow bounty, I blinked and it turned to rain, blinked again thinking "must have been wishful thinking" and it was back to snow, oh then rain again, then snow, then rain etc. At this point I started looking suspiciously at the cup of tea Mr Snowidea had made me wondering if he'd found some dodgy tea bags from way back. In order to retain my sanity (and keep the marriage harmonious) I decided to screenshot the forecast twice. To my relief it does appear to be switching between snow and rain every couple of seconds. Definitely hedging its bets.
  9. I saw a big flash and thought it might have been weird lightening. It was only looking on Facebook this morning that I realised it was the sub station.
  10. We survived with nothing worse than tipped over bins (despite them being tucked away beside the house). Spotted lots of branches and the odd tree down out on the dog walk. Still quite windy but obviously not as bad as last night.
  11. I'm the only one awake in my house, even the dog has conked out. Every time I try to drop off I hear an ominous clunk or bang from outside.
  12. Pretty bad here in the central belt of Scotland.
