Snowing very heavily here as well - Newtownabbey just above the Monkstown/Jordanstown area. Lying too. Hadn't even looked near the weather this evening and only noticed when passing a window in the house so nice wee surprise!

Seriously windy over the last couple of hours here with some really intense gusts, sounds and feels worse than Monday/Tuesday.

Just noticed one snow shower here today around early to mid-afternoon, didn't stick though. Road outside now glistening in the moonlight with frost/ice so as said above, take care if out on those roads, could be tricky. Interesting couple of days coming up with just about everything, and quite possibly the kitchen sink, being thrown at us. Take care all.

Very light shower of rain here at the moment but was just out there and it was clear at the time with a beautifiul full moon low in the sky - noticed the car was reading 3C - don't think quite cold enough for anything wintery just yet.

While amusing, it highlights the very point Essan just made - it's the Met Office who ultimately take the flak for these sensationalist headlines and 'forecasts' when they fail to materialise.

Yes, at long last ballybabe12, some thunder for Belfast! Only heard 3 or 4 rumbles but it's better than nothing! The rain has been torrential and the sky is incredibly dark and angry looking.

It looks more like a falcon of some type rather than a sparrowhawk; the wings are to angulated and pointed to be a sparrowhawk (or Goshawk for that matter). As already mentioned, doesn't look bulky enough to be a peregrine. I would be thinking more likely to be a kestrel, merlin or even a Hobby (although this is less likely as they are summer visitors AFAIK, could have just arrived though and you are in the right part of England for them). Let us know if you find out the identity of the elusive 'raptor'.

Get a pretty good variety of birds in my garden which over the past few months includes: blue tits, great tits, coal tits, chaffinches, greenfinches, goldfinches, the very occasional bullfinch, siskins (up to 6 at a time!), robins, house sparrows, blackbirds, song thrushes, collard doves, woodpigeons, magpies, wrens, the odd rook and hooded crow, starlings and blackcaps (only male). Last winter a brambling made a brief visit and the winter before that, a snow bunting also visited. Also see occasional sparrowhawks overhead and in summer hear (but never see) willow warblers and chifchaffs. Once a housemartin took an interest in the house but in the end decided against it! I'm sure I've missed out one or two species but nice to see such variety.

Very heavy skies just west of here with quite frequent rumbles of thunder. Looks like it is going to miss me as appears to be moving northwards.

Just had a small t'storm literally develop overhead as I was out cutting my lawn. It has moved off in a north easterly direction. Still lots of towering cumulus and c'nimbus around so maybe more to develop?

Seems to be clearing here now but still some distant rumbles of thunder. Looks like that's it for here but out towards the north west appears to be getting a pasting right now according to the radar.

Yes, same here. Another storm approaching with thunder almost directly overhead as I type this! It must be very bad out your way dee.

I'm just on the edge of that storm Dee88, some very impressive forked lightning and cloud to cloud strikes, but totally dry here although my wife said that there was heavy hail in Glengormley, only about 3 miles from here.

I live about 3 miles from Carrick. At about 8.45pm last night, after about an hour and a half of steady rain, I noticed that the rain suddenly became very intense - to deluge proportions and was accompanied by sudden and very strong winds. It lasted for all of about 3 or 4 minutes before easing - in fact it was just as the last of that front passed as there were clear skies behind. We even lost our satellite signal for a few minutes, something that only ever seems to happen during very intense rain or thunderstorms. My dish actually points in Carrick's direction! Didn't see any 'funnel' clouds though - just seemed like an intense squall line passing through.

I know it's a couple of days late, but here (I hope, as this is the first time I have tried to post a piccie!) is a picture of the squall line from the thunderstorm in the Belfast area on Sunday. Hope it works!

A bit late this post, but there certainly was quite an intense t-storm here (just north of Belfast) between 2.30-4pm yesterday with frequent, predominantly sheet, lightning and a lot of thunder. The rain at one point was torrential turning roads into rivers in minutes. Impressive squall line just ahead of the storm which i took some pictures of - will try and post them later if I can work out how to.

It was cloudy, foggy, dank and drizzly to start the day. The sun broke through for a while and it became very warm, up to 23.6c. Just clouded over again with temp dropping to 21.3c, and 70%humidity.

Woken up by heavy rain about 2.10am. The rain quickly eased but there followed a beautiful lightning display for the next couple of hours with lightning flashes appearing to come from all over the place. Never seemed to be quite overhead though.

Now down to a much more bearable 17.1c but with rising humidity at 81%. Hopefully catch a thundery shower tonight.

Had very similar temps to you Intrepid, with 6pm temps of around 26c but not sure what my max was. I'm sure it was something similar to yours. Some high cloud now with lines of turrets.

Currently 22.7c and 63% humidity. Not sure what the max was at my place today but according to the local BBC news forcast, the hottest place in NI today was Enniskillen at 29c, still short of the all time NI record of 30.8c.

Just been snowing here in Belfast for the past hour or so but has now stopped with sun coming out. Didn't settle though.

Dry sunny day with variable amounts of cloud, max around 5.5c. Currently 2.2c, 82% humidity and steady pressure of 1021mb. Clear skies - would have thought it might have been a bit colder as a result.

I can vouch for that. I had to drive from N'Abbey to Ballyclare this morning to drop off the little one with her nanny and I could have done with a boat on some of the roads. Rivers were pouring out of some of the fields and onto the roads causing extensive flooding - some cars engines must have been flooded judging by the number that I passed stopped in the middle of the road though thankfully my own car survived. There was extensive flooding in the Six Mile River valley between Ballyclare and Templepatrick. Thankfully it has now stopped raining but is very mild.

Currently 13.1c, 1020mb and 91% humidity. Dry but cloudy as it has been all day.
