  1. It is finally calming down here and I can now hopefully get some sleep. so goodnight all.
  2. You are in one of the areas that will feel the strongest winds in this storm, The fact that the land sticks out further into the channel means you will feel the winds for longer and stronger than most of the Sussex coastline
  3. Oh dear I dont like squall lines. that it usually where tornados happen. Too much instability.
  4. I swear I have giants clumping about in 10 League boots on my roof. No chance of sleep until they stop moving things around, GRR!
  5. It is going to be a horrendous night for Northern france and the channel Islands. Hours of winds gusting to hurricane force!
  6. Your local supply will be underground but the underground supply at some point will be connected to a supply from Pylons. The same is happening here in Bognor too flickering lights but on the edge of Bognor connected to Pylons. Still very gusty here. and will be for a good few hours yet but I doubt we will see more than F10 gusts now. I could be wrong of course so dont quote me about wind speeds.
  7. Ventusky on ICON, METO and the French forecasters AROME, are all now showing this storm at least 20 miles south of where previously forecast. This means even the South coast of England will get nowhere near the problems or the winds previously forecast. At least my roof tiles will be saved as in Bognoer we are now getting wind speed almost as high as they will reach. Sad for storm lovers but good for my sleep.
  8. Just remember to tell them the highest gust speed and not the mean wind speed. Eastbourne are (or were) forecast to have around Pomph gust speeds. Well over the required 70mph.
  9. Bognor Regis WestCam - Live webcam view with sound of West Beach Bognor Regis WWW.BOGNOR.TODAY Bognor Regis beach live webcam from the Pier at Bognor Regis, West Sussex UK. Live HD streaming webcam view of West Beach looking towards Aldwick, Pagham and Selsey. This is 2 hours before high tide and I wouldnt expect it to be so far up the beach already. Possible it will overtop as the storm surge could be causing a higher tide than the tables are saying.
  10. Gusting F10 here again and Iam really worried with how the roof tiles are clattering! Not supposed to be doing that this early in the storm. Not going to get much sleep if this keeps up.
  11. We also were unable to shop in our local supermarked on the A29 in Bognor for 3 days as they were closed due to the flooding having to be pumped away from an electric substation so not only flooding but no electricity for a while. Still have to drive over humps in the road as the pumps are still there and tonights rain will just make matters worse. Still havent been able to collect my prescription from said supermarket pharmacy.
  12. I 100% agree. My garden path has has so much rain that it is now sinking down into a huge puddle! And yes it was laid on top of the correct amount of ballast.
  13. How strong is the wind? 87 we had flashes every few seconds but it was power lines colliding.
  14. And to give me the lie it just dropped to F9 must have been a big gust!
  15. CHIMET - Weather Reports from Chichester Bar WWW.CHIMET.CO.UK Already gusting Force 10 in my area. This is very surprising as it was not expected to be this strong so early, a bit worrying for later I feel.
  16. Chichester harbour harbour weather reports. Fun to watch the wind speed start rising. Do bear in mind that these wind speeds are in Knotts not mph, https://www.chimet.co.uk/(S(xmbgcp55pm4xcp55mclj3sad))/wind.aspx
  17. Something that worries me most about this storm is that currently the wind is only gusting to Force 8 here but my roof tiles are already rattling, as they do of course in every storm but never until the wind is gusting to force 10. The difference can only be the wind direction. we usually have a s/westerly wind in a storm. Currently we are in a Southerly flow which is also what it is supposed to be when the highest winds are due to hit. beenin this house 25 years and never lost a tile, I have a feeling this time it could be different.
  18. Check out the wind speed on Ventusky wind speed model www.ventusky.com/?p=50.2;-7.6;4&l=gust&t=20230331/0700 Yiu can choose UKMETO or ICON model. Both slightly different, The Meto shipping forecasts have also increased the wind sppeds in many westerly areas to hurricane force at times. Please people do not underestimate this. Too many people died in 1987. This has the same potential as that storm only the track of the storm cannot be fully predicated and that could make a lot of difference in wind speed but the very serious wind speed will happen somewhere. Better to end up with egg on your face than blood.
  19. They are forecasting the wind to be gusting up to 89mph right on the seafront at Bognor Regis. And for some further weat hurricane force gusts. Dont underestimate how bad this coupl potentially get. After going through the 1987 storm in this same loacation my motto has always been Prepare for the worst and Hope for the best.
  20. Just read your post. Gurnsey and Jersey were earlier shown on Ventusky weather charts to have winds gusting as high as 105 mph. That is easily in 87 storm weather! Stay safe and DO NOT go out whatever happens when the wind is screaming. Littlehampton has had 3 tornadoes hit it this year, one only last Saturday. Nothing to say there wont be enbeded tornadoes in this storm as far as I know.
  21. I have to totally agree with this comment. If the wind is severe then ignore the schools. It sounds like teachers might not make it in but kids are expected to?Any complaints from the school and I would point out the double standard. I was on the coast during the 87 storm and it was horrendous, I only had a 1 year old baby then but with trees down and power out make your own decision about school or not.
  22. Not looking forward to tonight as being only half a mile from the sea at Bognor it might get a little hairy weatherwise. Picked all the pears off the tree this morning as the greenhouse is close by and I dont want broken glass flying around!
