  1. Just before the rain hit, a few miles east of York. When it arrived, it was squally with very strong gusts.
  2. Here's a hand-held timelapse video of that storm rotating as it passed by
  3. That's the same cell I've just seen, quickly heading east
  4. So this popped up out of nowhere Fast-moving west-to-east low level cloud under higher storm clouds moving NE
  5. I was in front. The sky turned dark but nothing too dramatic. Heavy rain for a while but not a lot of thundery activity. The next cell in line passed to the south of me.
  6. Clear sky forecast and a decent-looking daisy. Fingers crossed!
  7. I spotted them at 23:45 last night coming across the North Sea - I was on the coast at Whitby. It was a good long-lasting show until around 03:00.
  8. I had a fairly good NLC show in York last night. This was taken near the end of the display around 2am. I shot a good detail sequence earlier in the evening that I've not had any time to review. I spotted that same red tint to the leading edge of the clouds.
  9. Ooh, I didn't know we had an NLC forum - one of my favourite things to look out for in summer. I've seen two displays so far this year on the North Yorkshire coast, in the early hours of 2nd and 11th June at Whitby then Scarborough. I was out again last night but saw nothing, despite the promising daisy.
  10. The rain just arrived in York, clearing away these tables. I see there's a few persistent Brits under umbrellas!
  11. Those storms between Manchester and Sheffield appear to be growing without hardly moving.
  12. Just received a Met Office thunderstorm warning for this afternoon, confined to the Humber, East Mids and E Anglia.
  13. Nice little storm just passed overhead, a bit east of York - the same one that passed over Castleford earlier. Constant rumbling and some CC visible for about half an hour.
  14. Looks like I'm in the firing line - again - between York and the NY Moors
