  1. WYorksWeather Sorry but I don't believe that is remotely possible. given that the atmosphere is dynamic with differing circulation at play there is no way large volumes of a gas produced at specific locations can spread evenly around our planet it just doesn't work like that.
  2. One of the problems with these discussions is we always talk globally as if the concentration of either co2 or water vapour in the stratosphere is evenly spread across the world. It clearly isn't. So what warming impact is there where concentration are higher. As an example were the recent flood events in the US exacerbated by higher levels of water vapour in the stratosphere in the area of the storms? Is this information even available?
  3. Clearly Yorkshire Water don't see any significant rain fall in the medium hence the ban likely to last until winter with the promise to lift beforehand if circumstances allow. At least we will get stronger carrying all those watering cans!!
  4. A lot of earthquake activity in and around Greece and Turkey these last couple of weeks
  5. Sky Full so long term effects of climate change. Given my views on population decline i believe one of the side effects will be the greening of the planet. Less land needed for housing food production and manufacturing will see reforestation which in turn will counteract increase in co2. Yes we may be 2 or 3 degrees warmer but it won't be a runaway temperature rise. We will adapt or die. I can easily see smaller self sufficient communities rather than mega concrete cities as portrayed in science fiction. I don't worry about a changing climate i worry about the greed and dominance of the far right and erosion of individual rights especially women.
  6. Sky Full the problem is will the decline be slow and managed or more dramatic. If it's the latter and automation hasn't caught up the risk is countries subverting others to gain control of their human resources. We see it in a different form at present with the US and their attitude towards Canada Greenland and Ukraine it's all about resources but in this instance rare earth minerals the really baffling part is the US has now real ability to refine these minerals and any ability is years away So the only logical explanation is they want control so no one else can you them. It's about dominance.
  7. So to bring some context to this thread and discussion surrounding population decline. As populations decline demand will decline. There will be less need to generate power, there will be less manufacturing etc. In addition as there are few younger people to work making things manufacturing will have to turn more and more to automation. In addition power generation will have to turn greener as heavy power generation via the likes of coal etc requires more manpower. All this is likely to add upto significantly reduced CO2 emissions which is likely to occur before 2050. So is this good probably yes in climate terms but I would suggest no in terms of world stability as countries fight to exploit the dwindling resource of people.
  8. MoreCryoraptor there are at least 40 countries in decline some may surprise you.
  9. MoreCryoraptor Just for information I attach a link to the latest worldwide birth rates by country. Anything below 2.1 is a decline in population. It is already happening. https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=0681591186f8e82e3cf4804e3565c89791cf9b0ecccde71671022fb021c939cdJmltdHM9MTc0NDc2MTYwMA&ptn=3&ver=2&hsh=4&fclid=02f6c793-d8b8-622c-0c95-d51cd9e063f0&psq=replacement+birth+rate+by+country&u=a1aHR0cHM6Ly93b3JsZHBvcHVsYXRpb25yZXZpZXcuY29tL2NvdW50cnktcmFua2luZ3MvdG90YWwtZmVydGlsaXR5LXJhdGU&ntb=1
  10. Jacob You see the attacks on University freedoms, Like Harvard and Columbia having funding removed if they don't cowtow to Trump's view. You see ICE taking people off the street for disagreeing with Trump. You see press organisations being removed from Whitehouse Press briefings because they dared to question the lies coming out of the administration. The USA is a nats breath away from full on dictatorship. It is no wonder you no longer see talk of revolution as they fear the state. However no doubt this is still occurring in quiet corners away from prying eyes and ears. I know this is off topic but long term effects of climate change won't matter a jot if we have this radical transformation as they just don't care or believe in any man induced climate change.
