  1. This afternoon in Glasgow city centre it was snowing at about 12.30, despite the airport reporting 7C, then again at 3.30pm at 6C. Quite surprising.
  2. I'm down in London and it's snowing!
  3. Thundersnow in Glasgow!
  4. Glasgow city council need to invest in some pavement gritters...
  5. Me - "Let's wait in this morning until the fog burns off and we'll do something in the afternoon" D'oh!
  6. I travelled far and wide yesterday. Moved about 3cm off the car in Kingussie and went off to Aviemore where there was only a dusting. Went to Carrbridge where there was about 3cm and temp was about 0C. Off down the A9 at 3pm there was about 10 cm in the Dalwhinnie/Drumochter area, -1C frozen slush on the road and some idiotic driving. Beautiful sunset, drifting snow off the tops catching the golden light, hundreds of deer and grouse at the side of the road and a golden eagle soaring overhead, magical. Only an icy dusting at Bruar and nothing by Pitlochry. Very heavy wet snow and sleet coming over Sheriffmuir with the temperature hovering about 1/2C. Just the wrong side of marginal for what might have been a really good snow event in low lying areas. 4C and raining at the house in Glasgow, 7C today with the snow line on the Campsies slowly rising.
  7. Yes just up for the weekend, been chucking it down all morning. Off to carrbridge for a walk.
  8. Can report lying snow in Kingussie this morning
  9. Nearly crashed the car when I turned north tonight and saw the ochils silluetted in green.
  10. I love a bit of DIY science. Good job.
  11. Exactly the reasons why it wasn't going to snow to low levels.
  12. I went over the the Clackmananshire bridge at 4.20, never seen it so high, all the way up to the verge of the road.
  13. -3/-4 C uppers on a slack sww flow wasn't exactly screaming snow in the first place though was it?
  14. Just for a minute there I thought Dundee had slid into the Tay... I passed the fire engines and 3 police cars outside those flats on my way to the cinema last night, was wondering what it was all about.
  15. Lifted this from the bbc website. Cars floating in flooded streets is only "poor" weather, hardly newsworthy.
  16. Some river stations on the Irvine and Tweed broke height records today: http://www.sepa.org.uk/water/river_levels/river_level_data.aspx
  17. Extremes are a good way of evaluating a long range forecast. Further the deviation from the average the better since there is less chance of the forecaster being "accidentally" correct. Your forecast for December is quite impressive, certainly better than the offering from netweather, but there is an inconsistency between predicted weather and average temperature which would have moved it into the outstanding category.
  18. The Scottish mean must be getting on for record breaking surely?
  19. I had written a very long reply to you post but I think it can be summed up as: everyone is entitled to their opinion* even if you diagree with it. *of charts and weather!
  20. A bit of IMBY in my statement yes, around Peterhead it does look quite bad. Gusts over 80 mph I would put down as serious. We'll see if the Tay bridge gets closed, which is supposed to be at 80 mph but a couple of times when there has been a lot of hype about a storm they close it as a precaution. I'm bored of wind and rain now, can we get some snow please?
  21. Yes pretty much. I stand to be corrected, but to me apart from the very low pressure the weather won't be anything of note.
  22. Looks like 928 mbar to me! Still don't think it is that serious.
