  1. I remember many moons ago first encountering the infamous "snow shield" and scoffed thinking that's just so ridiculous its completely impossible to verify... 20 plus years later and I scoff and think the same .
  2. I just can't get into this sort of set up for snow here, everything has to be absolutely perfect for us to see the goods produced... Would be absolutely smashing if just for once did hit the jackpot.
  3. Over the past 2 hours the gusts here have been significantly worse than Sunday. More prolonged and quiet violent at times. Fearing waking up to all sorts of carnage. Heard at least 2 wheelie bins take a trip so far !
  4. So , the end of the cold spell underway, still some stubborn snow patches on the back yard grass but can't imagine they will be there too long. One weather extreme to another looking pretty blowy this weekend for all. I think a quick scan to make sure all pots and other garden items are secured down will be the first job for tomorrow morning!
  5. Would be interesting to see how this afternoon/evening transpires with these showers filtering down from the NW. Looking at the radar there's still some decent echoes. Could coincide with the rush hour somewhere.
  6. Just ticked over to -6. That's pretty cold for these parts considering it's not even 10pm.
  7. Since the last pulse of snow cleared through a visible thaw has set in. Fun and games over I suspect for the day. Was a decent event for here, next lot of precipitation likely to be rain and wash away what's left which is a shame.
  8. Breeze picked up here in last 10 mins, clouded back over and the odd flake started to fall again.
  9. Sky has gone slightly milky out towards the west from here after around an hour of bright sunshine. Be interesting to see if any more precipitation makes it here as snow
  10. Really enjoyed catching up with all the pictures in here this morning! Keep them coming, some absolutely fantastic shots!
  11. Woke up to a nice covering, 3cm max atm, still coming down. Lovely to see plenty across the region also getting in on the action!
  12. Absolutely baltic out... All things considered looks like a decent set up for somewhere in our region to get a covering. As most have already mentioned, regardless of snow amounts we are in a decent cold spell, the weather for the daily walk along the Mersey today was stunning.
  13. As a wise owl once said "Get the cold in first... " Once that's in possibilities crop up from seemingly nowhere.
  14. It's an interesting week ahead , and to be honest for mid January I'll take just being in the game for a bit of snow as there has been many a year where is been mild dross. It's definitely getting colder and we have a variation of NW flows forecast for our region Let the games begin.
  15. Been a busy week at work so just caught up with about 10 pages in here (cheered me right up with reports of some tantrums in the mad thread) Last time I posted the focus was on the old snowy breakdown from the SE... A few days later and that ship appears to have sunk (or more precisely likely diverted to France) and we are now back in the game with possible snowy incursions from the NW, a much better chance for us all in this set up I have found I've found over the years What a turnaround!
  16. This type of low pressure coming up from the SE into cold air is usually garbage for low lying areas around Grtr Man. So I'm not really holding out for next week (bit imby that actually.. i do apologise). However it could be jackpot time for our friends in the east of the region with a bit of elevation.. so here's hoping somewhere in the NW gets pasted
